Though it is for their independency or right to marry, Getting married before 20 makes her to bear more pressure physcologically,socio-economically. Sure it will lead to problems of all kinds within herself,in the family,in the society, as a whole in the nation's growth. Not good for her health,family as well as the nation. It is the period to enjoy,study and to have dreams and try hard to fullfil it in the near by future and to waste/spoil the time in getting married and having children. Let the court order be as it is, you girls must think and decide what you need.
If 15 is the age when children ( sorry adults ) are allowed to take a decision on marriage and mother hood then they should be eligible for:
1. Vote to Elect a member for Lok sabha 2. Get a heavy vehicle driving license 3. Be soldier in the armed forces/police/paramilitary 4. Work in any hazardous industry like making fire works/Klin etc
A crime at this age should not be tried under juvenile act but as a regular criminal as they are supposed to be at an age where they know exactly what they are doing .
from the government's perspective, marriage is legal contract. i donot think i is wise to allow minors to marry (or enter any legal contract). may be we can allow 15 yr olds to marry if they have their consent along with that of their parents. socially and culturally this is delicate issue. i feel that a woman's education and career should not be affected by marriage. she should not be pressurised onto a decision. at 15 she is still a kid. kids should go to school and plan to go to college and have a career. unless in extraordinary circumstances i donot think marriage is appropriate at 15. but then who decides a situation as extraordinary. we cannot have a fixed law on this issue.
It is really surprising how honorable High Court can give such a statement. This will lead to exploitation of the girls as well in this age (teenage), it is very easy to get influenced by the cinema & fall in for the relationships which are basically hollow & based on sex.
regarding permitting girls to marry at a tender age of 15 has taken me at least by surprise.it raises the question of a girl of 15 having that decision making power to marry or to go in for pursual of education,and also the way and means of deciding whether it is the girls free will or someone elses imposed on her!
I think the judgement appears to be based on "Documentary Evidence" rathen than facts and figures duly supported by Medical Opinion..
The courts ruling will make the life of innocent girls more miserable allowing to generate more 'Victims of Sexually abused girls', as, at the age of 15, No girl or a boy can take a "Balanced Decision". At age 15 (Teen Age) they are neither adults nor kids. With more hormonal changes taking place their decisions even if made willingly, they are bound to be in-correct.
..Hence, it may be prudent on the part of the higher courts to intervene sue moto and reverse this ruling..
I am optimistic that this will be reversed by the judiciary in the interest of Female community at a large..
I am not satisfied with the courts order because girls below the age of 18 years are not matured physically as well as mentally to take the decision of their marriage and anyone can betray them.I feel the age of marriage should be increased from 18 to 20years.
this dicission taken by the delhi high court is not acceptable to me as a girl in her carreer building age is forced to take on burden which she is not used to.
