This is the same movies where ppl throng theatres for watchin raunchy actress in really perveted acts. The city needs to retink its morals and grow up

by clint on Nov 22, 2005 01:27 AM  Permalink

i feel that this article is just shows what the big brother is scared of coz of his past which is what ashames him than the present. All this in the land of the sane?? hah! disbelief at the isanity of some coward who can not have a good time himself!

I guess the tamil movies and tv need to be banned first coz that has more explicitness than all else in the park benches or the pubs or the bedrooms! Skunks!

Does Taleban rule in Chennai?
by Jai on Nov 17, 2005 11:22 PM  Permalink

We may as well start veiling women, take their voting rights, cancel their driver's licenses, close all women's colleges, allow polygamy and move to Afganisthan..
So who are these enraged folks talking about culture. Have these "moral super beings" ever been to a temple. Seen the dieties is all except the minimum clothing. Who are these closet kings and queens? Do they know what their children do?? Do you know how many of the politicians, who sign at such stuff, send their kids to upscale schools where "the taboo" is the norm.
Chennai for me is dead, culturally, socially and progressively..

How dare you kiss in Chennai : A non-Tamilian's thoughts
by Indrajit on Nov 15, 2005 07:03 AM  Permalink

Looks like Shoba touched on a raw nerve here, he, he!

*How many of our politicians have multiple wives? How many of the police guys have multiple wives. Hello! Reality check, any one? And you want to let these "Thalaivars" to dictate to us what is right and what is immoral?

*How many Tamil films have atleast one dance where the very prominent and highly illustrated navel of the heroine is focussed upon? Hmm.. like 99%? And how many of these songs are being aired as "request" songs for birthday wishes for kids? Gimme a break.

Not only in Madras (yes, I like that name better), not only in Tamilnadu but thoughout our great country, every one knows that if you have money, if you are in power, pliable relations with the opposite sex is just a commodity that can be acquired.

I have a theory. The higher you go in society, the more power you amass, the more randy you get (in Madras, Tamilnadu or India wherever.) It is also a direct corollary that the more you get, the more strenuous your efforts would be to prevent the common guy on the street from "getting" it! Guys and gals, we have far more serious issues to solve than letting the police shine lanterns under kissing couples!

Folks, I cannot comment on the article, however as an outsider from Singapore working in India and frequent to chennai very often, let me say few words.
Chennai, is place where is culture is abundant, its good place for up bring children, it gives vibrant in that aspect although chennai is still taboo for few matters.
Of course I yet to come across couples holding hands or kissing in public, or at the pubs were the girls gather themselves and have fun.
Big brother here rules with a hand - I am not sure but I think they want to ensure that nothing is taken for granted but could be overzealous in their tasks....coming from Singapore party, pubs, holding hands and kissing is non issue at all there, therefore cities like Mumbai, Delhi & Bangalore do have opened up but not to the extent of westerners or as in Singapore....so please be blessed that chennai is holding up on its traditions.

This generation is matured enough to handle themselves.Let them decide what's good n bad for them...So stop disturbing !!! Maybe others can seek some guidance from US on the code of conduct especially for few of those politicians who don't know how to behave in parliment when the whole world is watching .Shame shame shame.
