How dare u kiss in chennai?
by Rajesh on Oct 03, 2005 04:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Oh please! Now the vacuous Page 3 brigade is out to talk about how uncool Chennai is. While I dont hold a candle to Big Bro, i'm not too enamoured of the snivelling lil sis whose vitriol laced pen shows her for what she is and the values she holds dear. You know what...i've been there, done it...in most places around the world. And rarely have i come across a place so genuinely liberated as Chennai. Now dont fall off ur high stool. Where else can a woman walk the streets safely without being pawed or stripped visually or worse? Mumbai, yes. The others?? The less said the better. Where else would u find women driving autos, manning gas stations, and showing signs of an empowerment that the asinine bimbettes on page 3 wont comprehend i their gilded cages? Tradition aint an f word lady, and 'broadmindedness'isnt an exclusive club. Before u sit waving ur manicured hand about how 'Chennai just aint Bangalore dahhhling',just remember its a place that has its own culture, its own identity, and values it holds dear. Before u deride it for not being hep enough, try and understand that ur freedom to behave the way u want, cant impinge on the sensibilities of the society u live in.

Rubbish
by Ragu on Oct 03, 2005 04:47 PM  Permalink

I dont understand, how this article got published.

Its pure rubbish. Author juz blabbered something for the sake of writing. Chennai is one of the oldest city of India. I agree, chennai orthodox and Conservative city, but its not as rubbish as denoted by the author.

If you dont know abt the city and its culture nor the mindset of the ppl. Pls do remain silent.

How dare you kiss in Chennai

What kind of opinion is it? While it is obvious to everyone, it is all the game politics by all parties to exggerate this worthless comments from an actress, it is very much unjustified to give a wrong picture for whole chennai. Whow ever wrote this column I strongly condmen it.

Its a matter of personal choice of who does what regarding these kind of issues. Upto the guy and girl but who is listening.......

In many colleges (esp engineering) girls and boys are not even allowed to get along with each other.

Just see how you contradict yourself.

You say that you dont want someone to teach you what is good/bad. But you try to publicise something that looks Good in your view.

It's unfair to criticize what's happening
by Kadiyala Subrahmanyam on Oct 03, 2005 04:43 PM  Permalink

Ever wondered why foreigners are increasingly adapting Indian culture? because they are vexed with their existing culture which is as described in this column.

Ever wondered why police are receiving so many molesting cases? The answer lies in this article itself,if one has the guts to accept it.

Can't a boy talk with a girl without putting his hands around her? Or is that mandatory?

Films propagate so many things to make money but one should be rational in following those. If one can't be rational, there should be someone who should ensure the foundation of India, which is the Indian culture, should not crumble into pieces.

A person can dress in so many ways but is there any need to expose their bodies to prove a fashion statement?

Can you accept your sisters and daughters dress up in skimpy clothes? If you can, time is not far away when you realize what what u have done.

Final words- An 'uttam' person learns from the mistakes of others,a 'madhyam' person from his/her own experiences,an 'adhama' person never learns.

So now you know who you are and what you have to do!!!!

Big brothers morality
by Banners on Oct 03, 2005 04:43 PM  Permalink

By big brother you ment law enforcing authorities.Yes

these are the same people who mastered immorality and

practice within and outside the four walls of police

station. The more rigid you are in imposing impractical

norms in private life more violation will take place.

Let Indian people live their life the way they feel

acceptable within them. This is too much of violation

in fundamental life.Stop doing such stupid things.
