Couldn't get the point the author was trying to drive across. I've been a chennai'ite for most of my life and haven't felt the existance of any factors that the author describes in this article - article is a big hyperbole.
Why Rediff believes this is a coverpage item? Beats me. Hope better sense prevails over the people who chose cover page stories.
Kudos i say to the person who wrote this article. Its stupidity of the people who would jump to any conclusions and not to mention collecting support for the same from people who dont even know the reason that they are supporting for.
My god i had never came across such a pathetic & lack lustre article .Had the author gone nuts in targetting Chennai.If she has personal vengeance against some city or people let her do on her peril not in Rediff.
I been working in chennai for the past 2 years. Me was under the exact impression that the author expressed above, when i landed in chennai. The other side of story is Chennaites do want to preserve their rich traditional background coming from their predecessors. Having stayed in Bangalore where ppl are accustomed to free life without restrictions from parents and thinking that is the "freedom" , Chennai will give a taste of indian culture under the guidance of parents. I want to question the author how much will he support his kin/daughter going with a stranger to a pub, a scenario which is discussed in the article. will he be able to welcome this?? I am afraid if he does so. Chenni is long known for following traditions. Wont the Big Brother in him, come out?? I feel u have to stay in this environment also when you are boasting abt indian culture.
If you loose your cultural identity, you loose your future. What do you people want to be?

Scene one. I dont agree, with you. For example if you find your kid in a park almost close to a guy, whom you dont know? Do you encourage it? A good father will not allow it.

Scene Three. My friend, There are more rape cases reported in the northern town than in Chennai. The more you expose the more you attract.
Scene Four. I dont encourage T-age Sex. I encourage Theoretically learning not Practical one. World admire your country for One man one Wife formula. Which is hard to practices.
