What do you really want to say Shobha? that culture policing has gone to such an extent in Chennai that a man and wife cannot even kiss in the privacy of their homes in Chennai!!!! This is ridiculous. Though your article pretends to be an attempt at being humorous, I feel you are trying to put a point across here.
It's time rediff stopped printing such crap. Can't beat Times of India in that department.
The writer of this article has completely misinterpreted the purpose of such rules and regulations.Take bangalore, which has all the mentioned freedom, which has also the crime rate growing exponentially.Everybody knows that. The chennai police have done all good to the city. No doubt in that.
I had a miserable life in Chennai.. No fun, no life.. Its just eating, sleeping and Rajani Movies.. The worst city of INDIA award should go to CHENNAI, TAMIL NADU!
Hi, i feel that this article is more of an exaggeration rather than truth....People in chennai are not narrow minded....they oppose things which are bad for kids & things which kindle youngsters mind. I strongly condemn rediff for encouraging such an irrational article.....
Useless article!! is the author angry that folks are not able to kiss and hug in public or does she think thats what the culture should be in Chennai? Even after all the scenes, its not clear what is the author cribbing about :( Good luck for a better crib next time!!
Hi Shobha, You seem to be upset about Chennai on something else and you have outbursted clearly here. I bet TOMORROW NEITHER can you argue for what you have written NOR can you preach the same to your children. Thats just one part of my argument.
It is not just Chennai. The revolts and demonstrations happen in Mumbai too (Dont get me wrong here - am just mentioning it as an eg). Are you not aware that films like GirlFriend were not screened at times because of the same. Its everywhere - around you and far from you. Are you suffering from hyperopia (am being careful here to not use long-sighted!) Its not great Chennai culture. Thats Indian culture for you Shobha. True we have been trying to embrace western culture. Certain values(you may want to deny that) are so much engraved into the impression still remains no matter how much hard you try to erase. Dont be antagonistic towards Chennai when that is the case everywhere.
Dear Columnist, Please restrict ur views to urselves... if uve got somethin against Chennai, nobody cares. Every city has its own weird side with loads of negatives... regards, A proud Chennaiite!!!
