Chennai is the best place in india. u can travel even in mid-night with out any problem. The police(as u say big brother) watching as a brother only. You can experience this by visiting the other metros. pl. don't give wrong immage about the police and the chennai.
Agreed that the Chennai is a conservative city, but this is not wholly the truth. There are some engineering colleges that put on false image of being strict but their numbers are very few. The actress episode wouldnt have been blown up beyond the recongnition it deserves due to the political pressure which otherwise would've been hush hush-ed as a yet another incident. Chennai is the only city which hasnt had a communal violence case in its recent history. Cost of Living is quite affordable to live a decent living for a family of 4 with a decent salary. Only place where the native language thrives equally well with the younger generation learning foreign languages. These misconceptions cannot demean a city of great culture and values which excels than other cities on all fronts.
I am a chennaite.I don't know about the nativity of Ms.Shobha Warrier who has written this article.Its not a condition that if six lane express highway is built or BMW or Wipro choosing Chennai has one of Business centers then kissing between a boy and a girl can be done in Public.I too accept that chennai is not exception from having men and women who indulge in Prostitution which is declared as illegal and sure i think is always under check by the Police. I would like to Put forward a Question before the persons who say that "kissing or having physical intrusion in Public can be done". Can they withstand a Male kissing their daughter or sister in front of them in a Park or in a Hotel??? Will they be normal if their son kisses or tries to hold a female in his arms infront of them in a Park or in a Hotel?? If yes then i accept their views.People should know to discriminate between the things that can and cannot happen in a public arena. we as Indians are always been celeberated as people who value their culture. It is not alone chennai but in any part of india these nonsense should not be appreciated.

Kissing publicly is wrong anywhere and not only in chennai...
Scene1: Public Kissing is wrong..i don't think shobha would want to kiss her husband( if married and straight) in public..it is same as that.. Scene2: Discotheques kissing..U should visit to comment on this..people do everything which they feel like in discos..
Scene3: You can't generalize this..Shobha i don't know where you studied , but i can surely say that u always wore a salwar to college...
Scene4: this is wrong...i agree but shoba....lets what u say when u have a daughter.....or if u have a son, will u marry ( if it is arranged marriage) him to a girl who had a boyfriend already...i doubt it..Because it is the cultural value u have grown up with..

I feel this article is totally unwanted and a waste of time..I would request the editor to see the purpose of the articles..
