Preserve the Cilture - Don't Curse it......
by Sivakumaran on Oct 04, 2005 10:23 AM  Permalink

I don't agree with your comments here. Its highly objectable. Do you want our younger generation to have the *** in public, which is to be done in the closed wall..... Parks are ment to have relaxation not for temptation, they ment to have rest not for lust.... Students are coming to college to gain knowledge not to showup or ramp.... there's nothing wrong in bringing rules for dress-code.

Don't make such statements that hurt people who still believe in culture. Try to preserve it, if can't just shut your mouth and keep watching those who try their best.

U can extend the last line with few more words like this about chennai. Its 2005 and we are in Chennai and still there is no kidnapping, Gang raping or Eve teasing in chennai like we have in other "Broad Minded people" in other states. Mind U!!

This Is not fair
by Rajkumar on Oct 04, 2005 10:07 AM  Permalink

Public places are there for everyone to meet and enjoy. So, decency has to be maintained as families with kids too can come there. "Big brother" as you say has every right to take them to custody if you exceed your limits.

Agent smiths are everywhere
by Leny on Oct 04, 2005 10:01 AM  Permalink

The author has failed to deliver the crux in too much emotion. These big brother elements are part of any society. The only difference is the context. Eventually, they will be sidelined. We should look at how they are being dealt by the government. Jayalalitha is doing a great job in this, compared to any other state. However, I don't understand the author's patronage on kissing in public.

How dare u kiss in Chennai?....... Culture
by kishore on Oct 04, 2005 10:00 AM  Permalink

Here the big brother is Police, I am the guy who works in chennai Frankly speaking in south the one and only traditional culture is still live in tamill nadu.but I am the who from Andhra Pradhesh.
People who are kissing in public parks up to them but it should not vulgarity.
Big brother mistake is going to hotel and shouting on them its entertained. The hotel is already had permission to such activities. Then the hotel manager what he does over there?
In other scene engineering college girls are wearing the sleeve less dress. The Anna university all ready considered about dress code,We should give respect to ur culture and traditional but it should not insisting.

Ridiculous article
by Praetorian on Oct 04, 2005 09:54 AM  Permalink

Probably the writer has something against chennai. Infact we folks should be happy that no MMS scandals happens in chennai.

The so called examples stated are extremely stupid. I seriously wonder how rediff allows such articles to be put on the site.

Great Article
by Venkat on Oct 04, 2005 09:47 AM  Permalink

Superb article. Exactly what happens in the city. I am from Chennai and this is exactly happening. I dont know who gave the police this much liberty to intrude into the personal lives of people. There is no democracy in this city. It is ruled by couple of people and is almost like a dictatorship. I dont like living here even though I am a tamilian. I wish to move to some better place like pune or bangalore where people are a lot more open minded unlike here.
