The author does not deserve anything
by Sundar on Oct 04, 2005 04:20 PM  Permalink

By writing this article, the author is simply trying to tell some story of what he/she would have experienced. Nothing more i can say.

One does not judge and come to a conclusion by looking at a sample.

Rediff, stop publishing columns like this.

Hypocrisy of the author
by Madhav on Oct 04, 2005 04:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Shobha Warrier and her ilk, the so-called liberal elite of our society seems to like taking digs at what they term as moral police. But they dont realize that every society has a moral police and many times a society's morality determines its laws. For example, if I a fully grown male wants to expose my genitals in public, dont you think its a crime under most country's laws? WHY? will shobha warrier defend my right to expose myself in public? similarly, if a couple wants to have sex right on the road, will shobha warrier accept it? similarly kissing in public etc are not part of our society's rules and this is our culture. In the USA, kissing in public is OK, but no having sex... so would you condemn , say, a New York for not allowing its citizens to have sex in public? would you call new yorkers hypocrites? i think its time we stop these so-called liberals from their hypocritical ways. BTW, i HOPE SHOBHA WARRIER WILL GET WORRIED IF HER TEENAGE DAUGHTER(if she has one) is trying to make out in a park with another teenager...

Most unusual article ever published by Rediff
by Sundar on Oct 04, 2005 04:17 PM  Permalink

I don't think this article deserves a place at rediff.com.

Who is the author of this article? I am from chennai and have been there for around 20 years. What is the intention behind this article?

What are you comparing chennai with?

A final request. Rediff need not tarnish its image by publishing these kind of truthless articles. If the author still bets, let him give his email id to receive brickbats.

Poor Big Brother
by Krishna on Oct 04, 2005 04:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Scene 6:

A boy and a girl seated in an isolated park chatting with each other. Boy makes some overtures for which girl is not expecting of. Unfortunately Big Brother passes through the scene, ignores them(after enlightened by reading Shobha Warrier article in esteemed Rediff site a day before).

Big brother reads in the next day news paper that a girl who he saw was molested, wonders why he hasn't taken any action.

Moral of the Story:

Donot read too much of Shobha Warrier articles other then movie reviews.

And if the boy and girl know each other and there is no molestation involved ? Would the policeman stay away and back off the girl said so ? i think not so grow up and stop pretending that the policeman is not trying to make a buck

Moral of all these Scenes
by Sudhakar on Oct 04, 2005 03:21 PM  Permalink

Hi Shoba,
So finally what is the moral of these scenarios u mentioned.
Do u want people of chennai to kiss their opposite sex in public places ? Then,
Have u seen any big brothers restricting the husband and wife kissing in their bedrooms and also giving them timetable.(i dont think so !!!!)
I think u know that TamilNadu Big brothers had achieved lot of appreciation internationally. The comments u made are very bad about the big brothers. If someone does something unusual dont blame the complete team.

Please avoid these kind of columns in rediff.

What's wrong with you?
by Somu on Oct 04, 2005 03:02 PM  Permalink

There are great things about Chennai. Happy to note you have mentioned about them too. I am proud of the Big brothers trying to maintain certain discipline in the city.Whatever nonsense you write, I know, you would get paid..but your perception Big brother's action is wrong. The way you have written them..is really shameful. There is something basically wrong with you Shoba. You still have to realize what Tamilnadu is.
