Whatz wrong.
by ComeOn.. on Oct 05, 2005 12:55 AM  Permalink

I think the writer of the article, had a bad experience with the big brother.

Infact, chennai is only as bad as the rest of the big cities if not better.

Would you pls grow up.

so wrong
by stupidarticle on Oct 05, 2005 12:54 AM  Permalink

I dont know how shobha warrier can write such stupid and incorrect articles. Just making a so-called-funny article that jokes abt some stuff wont make it a reality. It just creates a wrong impression abt chennai. If at all she wants to make a point, pls provide ample proof and not just some random scenes of imagination. everything needs to be seen in their context. And as for the actress's comments, wld shobha warrier be kind enough to explain to the ppl the entire comment that was made..

With reference to article: How dare you kiss in Chennai?
by Navaneeth on Oct 05, 2005 12:34 AM  Permalink

Every city is known for its values and tradition. I strongly condemn the above article. Sorry to say if you give more liberty to people to become social & allow kiss in public place or go to discotheques by giving this freedom, I hope mother cannot be called father & father cannot be called as mother. Because there some meanings in calling father as father or mom as mom it is a global rule. Just because it is 22nd century does our morning routine happen is different direction. For everything there are rules if you follow the rules you can enjoy ur life but if u cross the limit U have to face the consequences. Just to recollect a girl was brutally killed while she was driving her bike by four young drunkards (Who are supposed to b backbone of India) traveling in a car. After that incident people started complaining that police are not doing night patrol. Now that police have started doing severe patrol U find an article like this. This is ridiculous. Moreover a scene quoted where husband & wife about to enjoy in their house on a Thursday is obsolete. Do they have any evidence? When U r in rome be a roman is a famous quote, if you want to be social go to other city & enjoy

At least somebody is protecting their culture
by A Bhat on Oct 04, 2005 11:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India has a great culture and it should be protected. We should realize world is changing fast and if we dont make good laws, culture and morals will go down the drain. However all small acts should be minutely written in law. Big brothers should not behave like rowdies and act as per will. If majority of ppl living in Chennai feel that holding hands by girls and boys in public is illegal, then so be it :), form a law.

Big B Attitude
by artcle is so foolish on Oct 04, 2005 11:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Does this article mean to say kissing in public is good?I am in the US, and I have liberty to kiss anywhere, but that has not improved this country to anywhere.(It's all the hired brains from other countries that has improved this country.).There's nothing wrong if someone guides you follow your culture(but I don't believe police enforcements will help here.).Magazines should be more sensitive to such issues before publishing such artciles.I agree magazines can report on what happenend, but can't be biased to say "Kissing in public is good".

Then why are you working abroad ? Because the economy and things are better there than hear, and the liberal mores have a lot to do with their economy being open and more developed.

Kiss in Public
by verma s on Oct 04, 2005 11:33 PM  Permalink

It is high time Chennai should also move forward, let people live their own lives if they are adults, they are responsible citizens, more so when other couples did not object, then police should not interfere.
They should devote more time and energy in mainting law and order.
