Misuse of power and sheer stupidity
by Huzefa Hararwala on Oct 05, 2005 02:32 PM  Permalink

Do ppl in chennai need this kind of "Moral Policing". For that matter is this actually moral policing. Tomorrow when a mother kisses her child in public, we may see "Big Brother" questioning her actions. This has to stop. Moral Policing is fine, but who gets to set the limits??

haha..well..whoever wrote this must really have had some awesome experiences in chennai.i was there for like 7 months in chennai & i guess most of whats written's true (exept for a li'l exaggeration ofcourse, since its human to do so)..another thing bout chennai is their ability to change people's names left , right & centre..(in my case centre i guess)..coz i got used to people callin me raGul.

i stay at mumbai and i guess most of the places in india are pretty averse to pda's,coz it aint too different out here either as far as the tiff's between pda's & big brother's are concerned. But i guess everything changes with time...thats natures principle..

Please dont mess things up.

We all want to be liberal in thot and action. Empowering women, respecting child/women/human rights etc. We shd be "progressive" in that sense.

"Being modest/decent" is no crime.

Too much of Cribbing!!!!!!!
by Senthil on Oct 05, 2005 02:10 PM  Permalink

Well, out the outset i do not agree with what is happening in Chennai with reg to the moral policing. But the author has written the piece in such a way as if evrything is BLACK there, which i do not think so is the case. Added to it is the attitute of present day intellectuals and people like our author and media to justify and oppose things in the pretext of Freedom of Expression!!! For GOD sake, please have some balance of mind. We are progressing all fields, no doubt but we may need some more time to accept things like fashion, open sex, live in etc etc things. After all we are just aping the Foreginers under some pretext or the other and i accept that it has become inevitable but do not write off people and the expressions of people as STUPID. After all, those who agitated against the comments of actress were more of illeterate women and for them such sentiments matters more!!!!

Be more sensitive in criticism and we have recognise that we still need some more time to move on to that mode which our author expects to be!!!!Untill then one shoudl have to encounter such things happening around as it only shows the disparity that is clearly there in our society.

absolutely non sense, I mean the article
by Joe on Oct 05, 2005 02:02 PM  Permalink

Scene 5 is absolutely idiotic and own imagination.. Scene 4 is becoz of politics and not becoz of people..

Scene 1-3... do u dare to say that becoz of these actions( scene 1-3) any of the youngster will be spoiled....can u point any of the "responsible" parents who oppose these actions... no, u cant... every thing drives to discipline... We love the way Chennai is... Becoz of the new culture and MNCs' invasion to India...the youngsters are losing the great Indian culture and values...

Chennai police has taken necessary steps to save this culture as much as possible....

Dont blame Chennai for its discipline.... we are really proud to have such actions in the city... it makes the parents feel happy that the future is disciplined...

Kudos to Chennai Police

Expressed in a bad way
by Shant on Oct 05, 2005 02:02 PM  Permalink

Hi ,
The author seemed to have no other intention but to highlight a good culture in the worst way. Kissing is a way of expressing love, but hold. Kissing in public places should be discouraged.
