by Rajesh Kumar on Oct 05, 2005 05:39 PM  Permalink

Maam which world are you living, surely your article had a air about sarcasm to the big B and sense of humour..but thats it, its far from truth. I was in chennai for four years and found my freedom as i found it in delhi my hometown.agreed chennai more conservative but dont you think its blend of many things. kissing, dancing is taboo....are you kidding me. i had my best four years of free flowing life in chennai.. i am facing such problem in bangalore these days(dance floor are closed these days)
so point is though you did make me smile but also on the other want to know the pun intended here....
Rajesh

Chennai Always
by Krish on Oct 05, 2005 05:29 PM  Permalink

I dont think it is as funny as the writer thought it to be.

Chennai always has the RIGHT mixure of Traditional and Modern culture. It also knows the value of the cultures which are rooted in its place as well as the ones which are adopted.

Let the writer understand the meaning of the city , before penning it down.

Complete Crap
by Ramesh on Oct 05, 2005 04:20 PM  Permalink

This article is the most useless one I read on Rediff. It has no direction/objective and I don't know honestly what the author is trying to convey.

Whats wrong in being conservative?? These very same ppl, go out on streets on AIDS day and they want "Awareness" to be developed among public. Big Brother feels, "Prevention is better than Cure".

Please don't bore us with these sort of articles and spoil rediff's reputation.

people do behave in rediculous manner in chennai

It has been a couple of months I am in Chennai, I would like to put some incidents which I have been through. Even if you are working in a big brand IT company "you are not supposed to wear sleevless T-shirts and tight jeans in Chennai (don't think it is same as bangalore) as you are in Chennai" this was told to me by one girl (read colleague) from Chennai.
"You are not wearing bindis don't U know the tradition?"!!!! "Don't sit so close to your fiance while comming to office on bike ppl will start talking rubbish about you". If you are going out with your team which has all guys in it even for lunch ppl will start staring at u as if you are committing a big crime....This the kind of mentality ppl have and u have to face all these bcoz of the so called Chennai culture........and as you stay in Chennai....

Youprobably didn't find the right crowd in Chennai. One judges a person by the friends he or she chooses. So I guess the fault is yours..

Second, it is so sad that you living in Chennai has still not taught you spell correctly.. It's ridiculous and nor rediculous
