Deth penalty to Salem
by Madhav on Nov 13, 2005 11:50 AM  Permalink

In fact the criminals are product of this society only. They become criminal because society created them criminal. They became criminal, because at certain stage, society wanted them to act as criminal. They become criminal because social systems are criminal. Socity should not disown the responsibility of it's byproduct by eliminating them, just because now they donot want them. In fact not only deth penalty, but entire judicial system of giving punishment is hyppocatic approch, of society, which calls itself to be scientific in approach. I donot see in present jail system, any scientific attempt to decriminalise the mindset of the criminals. Just confining criminals within four walls of jail for certain period is all concept of judgement of our scientific society, and after these criminals come out of jail, they are free to continue with their criminal activity. Is this not funny?

Abu Salem

We cannot go back on our committment not to award them the death penalty. Locking him up in a dark cell without any amenities for the rest of his life, would serve as a good scare for other such criminals.

by Ripudaman Singh on Nov 13, 2005 11:34 AM  Permalink

Even if considered without any thoughts of vengence, or 'ill-will', i don`t see any reason why ABU SALEM should live any more! He is the perfect example of 'traitor'! Should have been dead Long back!

Abu Salem
by Glenn Selwyn on Nov 13, 2005 11:32 AM  Permalink

Abu Salem should not be given the death penalty. If India has to be recognised as a responsible nation, then the death penalty must not be imposed as the Indian Govt has given a signed letter to this effect.

Also the situation of a maximum life-term of 25 years does not arise as life imprisonment in India is for a maximum of 14 years.

i am being emotional but this is the symbol that we dont tolerate with someone who is responsible for the bomb blasts where innocent people died..

if that seems impossible.. have an encounter..and finish him off..

Death penalty for Abu Salem
by Jaison on Nov 13, 2005 11:24 AM  Permalink

Since he was extridicted under the conditions mentioned, it would only boost India's image in the international comunity, to honour our part of the deal. More over a quick death will serve no justice to the lifes of thousands of people he has ruined. Indian jails will probably bring him to breaking point and he might provide probable insight on how the underworlds most elusive members operate.

yes people like him should be hanged in public but as it happens in Gulf it is not possible in India. It would be a lesson to every body if at all people like Abu salem are hanged to death.

Yes, Its better, we(Indians) get rid such a guy involved in organised crimes. If, I Indian Govt, gives any penality less than that, Will the Govt. of India gives citizen of India a surety that he will not do such things in the future. I don't think GOI will not do that.
