Kushboo's Remark
by Tharshi on Nov 17, 2005 02:33 AM  Permalink

What is wrong with Kushboo's remark. She only stated her view. If she had side that ther is noting wrong with guys having pre-martial sex, no one would have any problems. There would have been any protest.

Its these prolitician who always put down females and always push them into some kind of rules saying its Tamil Culture, But same rules does not apply to males. What drives me mad is that even females protesting against this.

India,s females will only get freedom when they stop protesting for stupid things like this and start protesting for politicians to improve india's poverty and other major issues which is effecting India.

I would like to give a message to the politicians
" Grow up and act like grown ups. Every Indian has rights to give their point of view"

If you have problem with Kushboo's remark. Why do you let protitution to take place? You cannot do anything about that but you protest for silly things like this. Get a life.

Kushboo's remark
by DS on Nov 15, 2005 08:08 PM  Permalink

All say that India being a democratic country all people have their Rights. But when it comes to practice it is being supressed. There is nothing wrong in one (Kushboo) saying their view about a topic. If it is really absurd, then why should anyone protest???? There cannot be a Smoke without Fire. This shows the rate of Illiteracy in TamilNadu.....

Democracy means the Right of Expression..!
by suresh on Nov 15, 2005 07:52 PM  Permalink

I totally stand by Khushboo. She, as a citizen of a democratic India, has the right to express what she feels right. If it disturbs people who have a different point of view, they can voice their protest.. but they have no right to attack the Freedom of Speech and Expression guaranteed to all citizens of India.

I have a right to speak out my mind about what I think is right and wrong. And other people have a right to oppose what I say, but have no right to ask me to shut up.

So to Tamil dictators calling themselves "custodians of our culture"- I say- "Get lost!"

Kushboo:
When you are public figure, you must be more responsible in your actions(or words).

People see you as their representative. Just by making a comment in public and you cannot say 'it is my own opinion'.

When your daughter ask you "is premarital sex is common these days?". What do you say?.

1) "No. Premarital sex is not good, we should avoid it."
2) "Premarital sex is not bad. You can have but have safe sex, that is OK."

Which one do you say?.

Now tell me which one you have told to the youngsters of India(through that media survey)?.

Are you not spoiling your own country's culture?.

Be gentle and please donot hesitate to ask an apology.

premarital sex is considered wrong here in TN. you got a problem with it? we cant help it.
That was a blunt statement made by kushboo. you cant say sumthing is right, when it actually is wrong. What u can say is that it is right to do it safe.

Kushboo in the dock
by Thothathri Raman on Nov 15, 2005 07:05 PM  Permalink

I do not know what exactly the words Kushboo had spoken in public but the way she is being hounded by the so called activists leaves a bad taste. Chastisement of a statement by an actress with such vehemence and near unanimity smacks of authoriatarianism by a section of the society claiming to uphold the virtues of Tamil clan. Being a member of it myself, I need to point out that one of the long held virtues of Tamils is their tolerance to remarks and their ability to see beyond the obvious in what people do and what people are. Otherwise you cant justify the return of a corrupt chief minister to power with such a massive mandate, or the instilling of a popular actor as the longest serving chief minister of the state earlier. Look closely and you would find the list of MPs and MLAs bristling with actors and actresses, not to mention petty politicians whose only qualification is their unashamed worship of their puratchi thalaivi. My request to fellow tamilians is that take Kushboos apology at its face value and ignore her remarks and get on with your lives. By engaging her in a verbal dual you are merely lionising her and making her larger than life. It is just not worth it.
