Mayhem after the Assassination.
by Robbie Singh on Nov 16, 2005 01:59 PM  Permalink

Then, when the investigations and the legal proceedings took years and decades to reach a conclusion, and The Nanavati Commission submitted its report before the Government, Still there is no action taken against the culprits and they still claim to be INNOCENT.
Ms.Sonia Gandhi apologized to the entire community for the happenings but I think it'd be a better idea to punish the guilty who have been convicted and are shown to have direct involvement with the massacres. Just because they make an important part of her govt, they cant bee forgiven. The apologies stand empty till the timee the neccessary action against the culprits is taken.
I feel it impossible for the comunity to lay its faith in such a government which fails to rectify its fault and beleive in fake wwordy apologies and Rather I appeal to the entire community not to support tis regime till the time the necessary action is taken.

Mayhem after the Assassination.
by Robbie Singh on Nov 16, 2005 01:46 PM  Permalink

The idea of discussing the things of past is to learn from past mistakes and also in matters like this which have a huge impact on the entire community, deffinitely people in general like to get answers to their questions and discuss the issues in open forums. Don't you wonder how in the first place, people like Bhindrawale becamee so stronger that the govt had to call upon the military to chuck them out. It was Ms. Gandhi who supported these guys to sort her poitical motives And ended up messing up everything. Moreover, as it is correcctly pointed out, was it really necessary to call upon the military for wiping them off and was all the learned political leadership and the General leading the army inside the sacred shrine Mr.Brar who sounds to be a Sikh, unaware of the fact that it was a festive occassion and thousands are expected to visit the shrine from all over the world. SURPRISING !!!!!!
Then, That was not sufficient and doesn't end here.In delhi massacres, Sikh families and their homes were singled out, the mobs were led with full police and political support. The involvement of the Leadership, CONGRESS, is very obvious.

masacre of sikhs-novv 1984
by srinivasan on Nov 04, 2005 07:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The article is still relevant. It's surprising to see some views that such articles will reopen the wounds. The wounds never healed. Consider the following points and u will see that Congress party is more responsible for the happenings than sikhs.
1. Who promoted Sant Bhindranwale to weaken Akalis in
Punjab and ultimately lead to Operation Blue Star?
2. Is it prudent for a PM to ignore the advice of SPG to change sikh security guards considering the pentup emotions among the sikh community? By being stupid- which congress claims as sacrifice-she killed herself and 3000 innocent people.
3.BJP used the problem only to come to power in Delhi.
It never pursued the cases to bring the people to justice.
4.The comment Rajiv made in his first press conference
about the riots -"When a big tree falls, there will be some tremors"- is still the attitude of congress. Otherwise it would have proceeded against people like Jagadish Tytler instead of pleading him to resign.
5.We all should be ashamed as a country which allows its citizens to be killed in broad day light in its capital when the Law and order machinery looks the other way to please its political masters

Riots, mayhem and future
by vivek sisodiya on Nov 04, 2005 03:55 PM  Permalink

If none of my countrymen politicians have done it, let me as a citizen of this democracy appologize for what happened 20 years back.
Anti Sikh Riots are indeed a bleak spot on consiousness of people like you and me who make this country.
Sikhs as comunity are well respected by everyone known for their heroic contributions in Indian defence and sports. We also are proud and grateful of them for the fantastic spirit they bring to us with them. We saw a lot of them came to india as almost penniless victims of partition and rebuilding fortunes by sheer spirit, hardwork and business smartness and it inspires many of our countrymen all across all sects and states.
In my opinion each one of us need to look back with an objective mindset and carry the best and positive lessons. We have a long way to go togather and can only go togather.
History is full of mistakes and atrocities but we need to look beyond that and realise the dreams of our past for which our people have sacrificed everything.
Time is right for a "Pyaar ki Jhappi", smile and hardwork to ensure that we leave a beaeutiful country for our future generations. :)

Motive of operation Blue Star was not wrong but the way it was handled was wrong
by Harjinder on Nov 04, 2005 02:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I had read some messages put by hindu fanatics regarding operation Blue Star.I want to convey them Sikhs were not against operation Blue Star to flush out militants hiding there but they were against the way operation was conducted and timings of operation.Whole buliding of Akhal Takhat was damaged by Indian army and lot of innocents including children and women were killed, who gathered there to celebrate Martyr Day of Guru Arjan Dev ji.If operation was conducted after some days, hindus would have not lost anything.

Similar operation Black Thunder was conducted by punjab police with same motive. Why this operation was not contoversial? Can hindu fanatics answer that.

Hindu fanatics must use their sense to know that punajb problem was worsened after operation Blue Star.

Those killed Indira Gandhi were hanged but what happened to those who killed 5000 innocents sikhs.

I totally Agree with Harjinder. I want to ask this to people who support the act of killing innocent sikhs
1. Is Indira gandhi larger than life and worth the lives of 3000+ who were tortured and hacked and in some cases burnt to death?
2. Does that killing bring back Indira gandhi back to life?
the same goes to the Godhra riots too avengining ones killing will only result in more blood shed.

Stupid and Biased article.
by Aman Tandon on Nov 04, 2005 10:58 AM  Permalink

Stupid and Biased is all I can call this. I am a Hindu Punjabi and have seen start, peak and end of terrorism in Punjab. Sikhs are no different from Hindus but for the Turban so there is no point separating Sikhs and Hindu. Btw how sikhs were formed.Hindus who wnated to fight against injustice became sikhs and in process they started following rules and practices with aim to bringing discipline and enthusiam. majority of my freinds have been Sikhs and they never wanted a partition.

For 84 riots even I feel the same pain as any sikh will feel. But for Bluestar , I think it`s justified looking at the situation. Though Indira Gandhi could have avoided it if she wanted to to right in the beginning.Congress is responsible for protecting Bhidrawala during his early years and when he grew too big and important they wanted to get rid of him. By that time he had patronage with Pakis and rest is history. But May-June 64 situation was such that nothing but Bluestar could save.

In end I request writer to be little pragmatic and look at both sides of the coin instead writting without using the grey cells.

blue star and its effects
by Dinkar on Nov 04, 2005 09:18 AM  Permalink

Its good to know facts and figures, but no one needs her stupid intepretation ! As many others have remarked , whether or not IG created Bhindranwale et al , its the first crime even in the books of God , THAT these terrorists were / wanted to hide in holy place of worship, who killed & wanted to kill more innocent people ! So operation BS is justified, even in the books of God / Granth ! Are the Islamic terrorist hiding in Mosques and killing innocent people from there to be praised and honoured , if we have to go by your (author) smart thinking ?? In fact , I am sure ALL SIKHS whose patriotism & acts of bravery is best known the world over, feel more hurt that such few terrorists who claimed to be sikhs tarnished their this very reputation and hurt their religious feelings! They feel its a black spot Sikhism and Sikhs! Tommorrow , just a hypothetical example,if some Hindu individuals -politically motivated,(no Hindu terrorist will be given birth to by a Hindu mother),take shelter in lets say , Balaji Temple and involve in terroristic activities and if police open up fire to overpower them NO HINDU will ever complain , in fact , Hindus will even boycott the whole fly of those ppl

Vengence/Mayhem after.....
by Rabi Sinha on Nov 04, 2005 08:04 AM  Permalink

What are you trying to prove Monika? Are you showing off your knowledge of history, or that Gandhi's assasination was justified by a small group of disoriented sikhs or is it just a reminder and a lesson to keep in front of us as we continue to weave the quilt of our national brotherhood? I'm at a loss. Some things should be left buried in the past. It only brings bad memories and that inflames insanity and perpetuates fallacious logic.
