Blasts in cinema halls are shameful.
by Shailendra Singh on May 24, 2005 09:27 AM  Permalink

Blasts in cinema halls in Delhi are shameful deeds. Someone trying to take advantage of the Sikh community who are against the film.
I have seen the movie 4 times and I find nothing wrong in the movie. Jo Bole So Nihaal is a pure entertainment film. I think everyone should watch the movie. This movie is far more better than the kind of vulgur movies which are releasing since past few months.
I request media and people not to spread the rumour any more. Media should make people aware of the fact instead of creating panic among them.

'Media judged my film guilty for blasts'
by arjun on May 24, 2005 07:08 AM  Permalink

i am supporting Rahul Rawail because he is not yet found guilty. one should confirmed what actually happened in Delhi. there was another blast occured in Delhi after two blasts in the theaters. if so something is there more than mere a film issue and we should find out who is actually behind this cruel incident. world is watching us so should give the culprits maximum punishment so that this type of incident will not take place in future.

Only a sikh to play a sikh role in movies/drama
by parminder on May 24, 2005 02:05 AM  Permalink

In our democracy where people are given and guaranteed freedom, to some it may come as rude shock to hear Bibi Jagir Kaur saying "only a sikh to play a sikh role". This however if seen in light seems to be a just suggestion. Whereas physical difference between an average hindu/muslim/christian is hard to figure unless one sees the attributes under the clothes, an average sikh is pretty easily recognized (their turban and facial hair). Now the turban is tied according to a procedure and it is not a hat as is used in movies. In the movie "Gadar" ,we see Sunny deol sometimes in turban sometimes not in turban, sometimes in beard sometimes no beard, quite confusing. Though to an average viewer it may mean nothing, but imagine to a sikh viewer this could be quite hurtful. A Hindu playing a muslim role or vice versa would not cause such a hassle.I am sure the highest leader of Sikhs, Bibi Jagir Kaur is smart enough to not come out with a communal statement. She in my view has said something which is correct as far as a sikh is concerned and also correct as far as a democracy is concerned. Rahul Rawail is a businessman and he may call himself a sikh but is he actually one?

Irresponsible TV Channels
by Ashish Singal on May 23, 2005 10:30 PM  Permalink

I most definitely and heartily agree with the director of the film 'Jo Bole So Nihaal'. It was very irresponsible and unethical of the media to pass judgements on its own on behalf of the administration and the public. I strongly argue about the rights and responsibilities of media in addressing such delicate issues like bomb blasts. I accuse the media for deliberately giving the bomb blasts a communal face. Also, it actually aggravates me when I hear a TV channel qouting the incident as 'resurgence of Sikh Terrorism' (by Aaj Tak Channel). Using such phrases on a prime news channel of the country shows the callousness and immaturity of certain minds. Whatever the case, TV Channels only make money, the people who suffer are us, the public, and in this case, the owners of the ill-fated film.
