India dimming - Utter moonshine (Part 2)
by Gauzbig on May 21, 2005 11:24 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

With volatility in the Indian stock markets and FII like UBS running amuck, using the sensex to measure government performance is a joke!

In any case, even for the ignoramuses the Sensex for the India shining men touched an all time high of 6,250, only to slide to 4,300 levels in mid May before Manmohan singh government was sworn in. In mid May 2005 sensex was around 6400 (above peak achieved by the bungling NDA). So then, why is the period of Jan to May 2005 used to evaluate a years performance !! Quite obviously for the absence of anything else to berate the UPA with.

Now to some of the UPA achievements:a)Fiscal deficit decreased in 2004-2005 from 9.4 % of GDP to 7.9 % in 2004 -05 (this despite higher oil prices, tsunami and most importantly no fraudulent disinvestment sales)b)Communal thugs like Pravin Togadia have lost thier spunk and their trishuls without a doting BJP in power! c)Extraconstitutional UNELECTED communal RSS back to fringe rather than dictating policy and ministerial berths d)Repeal of draconian POTA yet terrorism down e)Employment guarantee bill which seeks to do something for the marginalised (which the BJP is stalling through boycott of parliament)

Pravin Togadias wayward statements

Kaushik Das: Your comment 'Prove one statement of Pravin togadia wrong'

So then, do you even now think that his statements on Advani being guilty of 'treason' and' anti national etc.' are right?

Well, look around and you'll find lots to berate the UPA with.
The sensex just shows market sentiment of investors.
Yes, but sensex touched 6250 from a considerably low mark. Don't forget that. Now it is 6400 from that. In fact it has decreased from 6600. It slid to 4300 because of manmohan singh's congress winning. Sensex is doing well because congress did exactly what the UPA was doing. Firming up the economy with exactlythe same policies which they berated when they were in opposition.
Fiscal deficit - It had INCREASED the last time I heard it.
Disinvestment sales were not fraudulent under NDA because the honourable Mr. Shourie was looking into it. However, I am not sure about the disinvestment the congress is about to start for PSUs.
Prove one statement of Pravin togadia wrong. Anyway, communal thugs like the imams and popes are now rising - they are more harmful than PT.
What about the unelected manmohan singh himself? what about the extraconstitutional sonia?
POTA is required for any nation that wants to be safe. Some elements need modifications, of course.
Who said terrorism is down?????
EG bill is corruption agenda. There are no guarantees in life.

Fiscal deficit - It had INCREASED the last time I heard it

Comment: When was the last time you heard about it ? Care to share some numbers pl?

Disinvestment sales were not fraudulent under NDA because the honourable Mr. Shourie was looking into it.

Comment: HUH ? The CAG had handed out commendation letters for Shouries honorable handling of the Centaur sales ? Before shooting from the hip, do remember that the CAG is a consitutional authority and is not an arm of CPM or the UPA...

What about the extraconstitutional sonia?
Comment: What about it ? Sonia Gandhi is the President of the Congress and thanks to the changes brought about by NDA she holds a constitutional position. What is the extra consitutional role played ? Pl specify. She has been responsible for pushing the contentious Right to Information Act.Is that an extra constituional role?

NDA has been running to the law courts for anything and everything, why are they sitting quiet on the so called extra constitutional role ? There is a Supreme Court of India that can and will intervene if there's extraconstitutional power.

Bereft of issues, this is just part of the NDA spit and run campaign.

India dimming utter moonshine!! (Part 1)
by Gauzbig on May 21, 2005 10:50 AM  Permalink

GDP growth 6.2 % in Q4 - Disppointing ? Maybe.

Who is responsible for this?

GDP has declined from 2003-04 primarily because Agricultural expansion slowed sharply to 1.5% during April-September 2004 (significantly down from the unprecedented growth of 9.6% in FY2003).

Kharif (summer) foodgrain production was around 102.9 million tons compared with 112.1 million tons in 2003.

The area sown for most rabi (winter) crops also declined, and hence winter crop harvest declined.

The adverse impact of the tsunami on agriculture due to devastation of standing crops, destruction of irrigation facilities, and depositing of nonfertile sediments may further lower agricultural growth.

For the year as a whole, total agricultural production has, risen marginally by 1.1 % (from around 9 % preceeding year).

With agriculture still a large portion of the GDP how is the GDP expected to do better and more importantly... HOW IS THE UPA RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TSUNAMI AND THE POOR GROWTH IN AGRICULTURE?

They have not claimed to be witch doctors capable of inducing a monsoon and preventing Tsunami.

Unlike the impostors who were even willing to appropriate good monsoon! (Cont'd)

Was anything better expected from this Marxist propped and Lalu backed Government. The very fact that it has been able to survive for a year is a wonder, isn't it?In the event that the Government proceeded at top gear,it would have been outvoted and fresh elections would have been called for where the result would not have been dissimilar, considering the state of Indian polity. So in the name of stability, this has to continue.

with his usual false propoganda, here comes another fellow..From where did you get all these statistics?
And from dec,04 sensex lost -2.4? What abt from May 2004? You remember sensex then?
Also under NDA govt, India's GDP growth didnt go over 6% except for last year ( 2003-04 ) in their rule.So why at that time you guys shouted for "India shining"?
Ok..lets talk abt corruption: What abt the UTI scam, coffin case, arms deal, Tehelka, Golden Quadrlateral project scandal..Did u foget or trying to remove from reader's memory? UPA govt is no better
Ok..now come with credibility? They lost the credibility of constitutional authority in gujrat. They talk abt uniform civil code. But they didnt do that. You remember saffronization of education. Talk to any educationist, they will tell u.Remember before the last Lok sabha, Bajpayeeji reading Koran with Mullahs? They looked like congress who just do appeasement of minorities and dont care abt development of them..
And economic reforms? After 1990, average GDP growth was lowest under NDA? Just check the statistics.
So lets dump your rather poor view in junk yard and talk abt other thing. I would rather be fortunate to get my view posted

You seem to have been fed on healthy dose of marxism and congressism. It is stupid to say that UTI scam was due to involvement of NDA. Even CPM wouldnt say that. Regarding the arms deal and coffin scam, the present defence minister himself had given a clean chit to Fernandes (though he had to retract it due to pressure from Soniaji).

The fact is that after a long time we had one of the cleanest Governments in India. They were able to achieve 8% growth rate though they inherited a weak economy.

Kudos to Rajeev Srinivasan for well-defined comments on observations on the MS Govt. It is time to do some 'India re-awakening'.

I strongly agree with Rajeev Srinivasan.

When i see the perfomance of this goverment, it really boils my blood. What the hell is this communist party.
Now we have the opportunity and potential, which if utilised properly, can propel us into one of the major economic power house in the world. It seems the politicians in this goverment are only good
for giving philosophical statements.

When infrastructure is one of the major hurdle for our coutry, we see the government is slowing down the infrastructure development. They are only good in forming commitees and not in developing the country.
