Commuting the death sentence to life sentence is outrageous. In fact, people who instigate Communal Violence or religion related violence should be awarded death sentence. When India is heading towards positive growth and with the world coming closer as a global village, incidents like this should be prevented from happening. Commiserations to Staines Family.

I am a christian by birth..but I do not want to give any religious colors to this crime. First of all let us realize by hanging Dara Singh, we are not going to gain anything. I am totally aginst the capital punishment. Let him be in the jail for quite some time where he may calm down and may realize and repent for his mistake from his heart. That\'s what even the soul of Staines may wish. Let\'s learn from the wife of Staines, who showed the courage to forgive him. Let\'s be human.....not another Dara Singh..
It's absolutely unwarranted that a criminal responsible for the death of a reverred Christian and his juvenile kids.
Shame on the part of those who commuted the sentence. If the same judge's kids were burnt alive, would he commute the sentence? No way.
When a case is taken to a higher court for judgement, the judge may change but not the judgement, the evidences may change but not the crime and conviction.
I wonder why a criminal like Dara has not been given the death sentence. The entire issue seems to have taken a religious conotation. I am a christian by birth but an Indian first. The news of a christian missionary Graham Staines being killed did not hit me as much as the news of the killing of his two children. A person who had the gall to kill children should have been hanged to death. Now what's next for dara Singh? Stand for elections and get elected to the august House?? I will not be surprised.

I totally agree with harish. Staineys was no gentleman. He was involved in converting a lot of poor Hindus into Christians by means of giving money and other means. And I suppose, an investigation on why he was killed has to be done rather than just thinking abt this judgement. I think we Indians are becoming too blind in the guise of \"Secularism\"
It would be pertinent to remind readers at this point that Dara Singh had nothing to do with any Hindu outfits and he did what he did on his own. The point merits repetition because of the media's slander campaign against some Hindu outfits for their alleged involvement in the Staines murder case. BTW, just what was Dara so worked up about, that he decided to kill the missionary? Shouldnt we know the truth of the matter?
..............One of the most bogus verdict.........

again we have seen another strange decision from our "darbar of kanun"......how funny this people are (judges).....punish them first...everybody knows Dara did that, then he should get the highest level of punishment.
The govt. has to prevent people of one paticular community killing people of other communities. For doing this, they have to award death sentence to people like Dara Singh & only by doing this they can deter, put fear in such unscruplous people. The govt. has even earlier done wrong by pardoning the culprits of "Chilukuripeta Bus burning tradegy", & awarding death sentence to Dhanjoy chatterjee
So as usual justice is thinning out even in the famous, rather infamous, case of Steins' murder. No wonder some other criminals are just left out. With the passage of time the public memory too fades. But justice should be justice even with the passage of ages. This brings us to the same hopeless situation. Can anyone have and trust in the age old belief that justice will ultimately conquer.
