Thanks

The Swiss have been, for some time now, members of the UN.

It was Groucho Marx not Woody Allen who said that.

India should leave the UN
by Kiran B on May 25, 2005 01:19 AM  Permalink

If India has provided far more than its fair share, and has put its soldiers in the line of fire in many tense spots, and still did not get the permanent seat in UN then we should ponder the alternatives and think for ourselves and think in the terms of what exactly has the UN done for India lately. if India doesn't get the Security Council seat with a full veto, then India should walk out of the United Nations. I think it forces UN to take action if we take this drastic action. we did not get anything from the UN in return for all the things we have done beyond our ways.

India in UN

A very good article.
I think, the problem is not in being there. it is in believing in it's virtues and piousness and feeling cheated about it. we are not there to preserve world peace and any such contribution is incidental.we are there to look after own interests.all we have to do is to concentrate on becoming a prosperous nation, and that sounds a far cry.
Incidentally, we have a long record of ignoring our interests to brood over obscure ideologies too seriously.
