Not just Manipur, the entire NE India is a neglected region whose existence is barely recognised by the Government (including the author\\\'s political affilicates when they were in power). We have given enough political, constitutional and financial sops to win the hearts and minds of an ungrateful and seditious region up north. If we were to redirect a small part of this attention to the NE, the benefits could be well beyond economics.
I have often wondered why no government at the center takes any concrete action for the eastern part of India rather than just announce crores of rupees during the independence day speeches. Nowadays most of the politicians are busy trying to project themselves through the media rather than do actual service to the nation. In the process they are totally oblivion to such issues because these issues do not create much sensation for the media !!
I feel that the uncontrolled booming of sensationalist media in India is currently one of the major problems facing India. India is being controlled by and through the media than by actual issues and vision.

I agree. The Indian media has a lot to do in highlighting real issues. All they do is just bash up Advani or lalu or modi. Ministers in govt already with so many issues naturally spend time on the ones that are highlighted in media. PM calls a night meeting to discuss who threw chappal at lalu, rather if he had called a meeting to discuss Manipur, it would have been far worthwhile. The govt should employ a person like KPS gill from Manipur who can bring in results within a year.
It's a good effort by Mr.Tarun Vijay to highlight the problems of Manipur. Central Govt. must take some immediate action to save this beautiful state & it's people.
Tarun Vijay's new found concern on Manipur is surprising.Obviously his concerns on issues of national importance is governed by whether his disposition of choice is in charge of the central government- If as he says what is going on in Manipur is overthe last 10 years, pray what were the "India Shining" people doing over 40% of this ten year period.- Perhaps the pogroms at Gujarat were keeping them busy. Mr.Vijay could well concentrate his efforts elsewhere instead of what he does best-rabble rousing.

But people like muthukumar the idiot (i wanted to use stronger words but rediff wont publish my response then) who are pain in the ass dont see above their ideologies.

To just save there chair.. and show off there power and weight they are not ashamed of making a loss to the whole nation.

1) Hatred for the motherland(INDIA): this is very much a part of people from many other states..whether it is in J&K, northeast, punjab or tamil nadu, this hatred is still left with some people. and the fact is no one is working to unify our motherland.
2) burning of bengali script.. is this diff. from TN polititions criticism of use of Hindi in there state(there zone of influence). These people have no problems in adopting a foreign language but have bullshit reasons from adopting another national language. Recently there was a storm in the house against the use of hindi on the milestones...did any one do any thing to oppose this dirty political moves.
I am a student, and am studying in a diff state. I know the indifference people have towards there batchmates from different states..
3) supported by the church....india is a secular country, over here minorities enjoy extra privelages...till the day present majority is counted as minorites this would continue...no one would dare stand against the minorites they would be protected...the fact is we are scared of ourself and are indifferent to our past.

Nonsense.... why are you including Tamilnadu... Its like saying people in delhi hate India....
It is sad indeed that small issues really burn up our states. Whether it be Gujarat, Maharashtra or Punjab, some issues, political or otherwise rake up tension and fierce passions resulting in violence and bloodshed. Solution lies in educating masses and developing a fierce feeling of togetherness, oneness and integrity of the country.
