The Hon'ble Loksabha Speaker lamented the other day for having to expel 11 M.P.s on the charge of taking bribes for asking questions in Parliament. While agreeing with him, I wish to add that we had several more reasons to be ashamed of our socalled 'hon'ble' MPs. When we had a constitution which does not ask for any qualification for being an M.P., we were ashamed. When we learnt that people were filing nomination papers from jail and that there was no law in our nation against it, we were very much ashamed of our MPs.
When we learnt that Allahabad High Court nullified the election of Smt. Indira Gandhi on the grounds of corrupt practices, India was ashamed of her M.P. Smt. Indira Gandhi. When thousands of Sikhs were massacred by the Congress party, India was ashamed of her M.P.s and M.L.A.s and her rulers.
When we learn that MPs and MLAs raise their salary to double at the blink of an eye, we are extremely ashamed of our elected representatives.
So, Hon'ble Speaker, Lok Sabha, you need not shed tears for having to expel 11 MPs. These were only small fry and big buddys are still sitting there in the august office of Parliament. Find them out and kick in their ass.
Did you notice this writer puts the blame on the Church and the leftists? What else would you expect from a divisive organization bent on expelling all the religious minorities from India? When you neglect the people and their land atleast be thankful that the church has come to help these poor people. Isn't it so typical of RSS and so called "keepers of Hinduism" to come rushing in to blame the church when they see something good being done about the downtrodden. Conversion! Conversion!! they cry out. What has the RSS or the Hindutva organizations done in these parts of the country to help? You don't learn to improve your lives by converting to Hinduism alone. You need to give these people a hand up not hand them down and the church is definitely doing that - hand up, by teaching them skills to survive.
It was great revealing about the happenings in Manipur.None of the TV chennels covered all these .I was in manipur for some years, i liked the place for its beautifull people , their famous dance & scenic beauties of the land scape. Why onle Manipur see the entire North-East could be centre for highly profitable tuorist hub for not only our own but for the entire world. But who cares ? Both the Govt as well as the locals should join hand to this ventute for prosperity. No fighting could bring any solutions.
Even if India lost some of the states in North East nobody would care. forget about the illiterates, I dont think even literates would care. Its because of the half hearted approach of the leaders and frustration of people from total mismanagement. good effort by Mr.Tarun Vijay to highlight the problem.
Thanks to Rediff for having young (TARUN in HINDI) columnist on its site in a Guest Column. Hope, he does not remain a guest, who is generally forgotten after his departure from home and he is, rather made a regular contributor. His contemporary coverage of events of the country is remarkable, in particular, a fact disclosed by him of burning of a library in Manipur resulting in destruction of an important part of Indian History. It is unfortunate that our premier media barons have not taken a serious note of it. It was not taken up in any of the leading TV channels as a topic for discussion in any of the many, which are forced upon the viewers. Tarun ji please keep it up and enlighten the readers with your regular columns. Vinod Tuli
