I agree with the author. We should not fall for the US F-16 deal. It almost seems as a pacifying move by the US to justify their horrendous decision to supply Pakistan with F-16s.
A technical assessment should be made between the F-16s and the newer SU-37s. For all you know, the SU-37s might be a superior fighter aircraft!
Are you trying to justify that if India does not have the back bone, it is US fault ?. The fact is that India is number 5 from top of the list of most corrupt countries. What Indians need today is an introspection of what India has become today. A haven for its 'tainted' politicians, the guys who change color faster than a chamaleon. What kind of 'idealogy' bonding do the present constituents of UPA have ? Kursi or what else. What you need first of all is an India that you can be proud of.

infact many educated in india are fully aware of the double standards that america adopts, not only against india, but whereever and whomever it needs to apply on.
american policy can be easily decoded by the educated: "america in peace when others are in pieces" ! america will not survive if others are free of problems and start 'developing'. america thrives on divisions, feuds, wars, unrests, disasters etc around the world. infact american businesses know how to encash any situation in any country around the world, at the cost of other countries of the world.
The lesson for all of us (particularly those who are deaf, dumb, blind AND LEFT) is that India has to earn its deserving place in the UNIVERSE. We do not want to beg for F16 or UN Seat. We first have to set our country in order. We simply have to outgrow US, CHINA and everyone else. We know that we have everything they have. The only damn problem is our mindset and of course the politicians, whom we choose.
I reiterate that we have to become the best country in the world - have to have the best infrastructure (including social), best systems and best people. We have to be much more powerful, responsible and wise than America ever thought they could be.
What I have never understood is why should we always wait for US and Pakistans to dictate terms over us. It could have been our own decision to buy or not to buy.Who was RICE after all to come and talk about us ? Now that US plans to gift ( so called sell )F -16 to Pak even we want to spend some money over the issue in both the cases it is US who is going to earn.We are calling Mussaraf to watch match and he found a platform to talk about Kashmir.Never understood why at at all we should be giving so much time money and respect to a person who has never been lawfull to his countrytmen also about election and always kept himself in the driving seat giving all kinds of dates like OCT or JAN for elections inb speeches only.It should be WE ruling our country and our plans to govern us rather than the US or PAK.Tell them once for all UP YOURS !
