What does Praful want to impress?
by Akhilesh on Mar 23, 2005 12:26 AM  Permalink

I really wonder, with all of his deep analysis, what does the writer wants to impress upon?

The writer talks about the basis of democracy, its fundamentals and what not. I want to ask one simple question... How to protect democracy when the Major Offices is being misused for some advantages?

I would like to remind respected writer that even Bhagwan Krishna defends the use of Tact when defending the Truth.

I believe, NDA did the same at Jharkhand.

It wouldn't have been correct for NDA to go by the writer's guidelines and see aghast how manipulative powers take on Jharkhand.

Thanks

What is your interest Mr. Bidwai?
by Ajeya Jha on Mar 22, 2005 09:01 PM  Permalink

Mr. Praful Bidwai has this problem of self righteousness. The demarcation between the judiciary and legistatures is to be respected no doubt in our democracy. However he forgets that this demarcation is not static, atleast from the people's point of view. Does he want the politicians to keep us as hostages of their nefarious designs but not letting the president or the supreme court interfere in what was the murder of democracy? Supreme court and the president naturally filled the void created by the legistatures, who wre less than honest (a fact he can not afford to deny!)

A question to him? What is his interest in trying to create a situation where politician have a field day in making a mockery of democracy? The Supreme court has adapted an activist attitude because of the gross criminalization of politics. Why is Mr. Prafull Bidwai averse to accept this fact. It is obvious that he too is part of of the politician's design that wants to loot and rape this country.

How low can you stoop Mr.Praful to dishonour Prez and SC?
by Nainar on Mar 22, 2005 08:55 PM  Permalink

Dear Mr.Praful,

I agree with you that there are no heroes in Jharkand. But your efforts to malign the President and SC is totally uncalled for. 41 MLAs were paraded in front of the President to call the bluff of Mr.Soren. Now, the President can just keep quiet and wait for things to sort themselves out or act by calling the Governor to explain the rationale. The President did the right thing by calling the Governor to explain.

About SC transgressing Legislature, who is going to be the final guardian of the Constitution other than the SC? If there is a fraud on the Constitution by any one, SC is the Supreme Authority to pass judgement on that. SC took cognisance of the mattter only after 41 MLAs were paraded by NDA in front of the President. It is a blatant fraud on the Constitution to call Soren on filmsy discretionary grounds. SC took the right action.

You can hate NDA and BJP for all you want, but accept the fact that they are a political force to reckon with in India. Instead of crying foul for every action of theirs, see if there is rationale, and then write columns.

Jharkhand Heroes
by Sanjiv on Mar 22, 2005 08:18 PM  Permalink

Jharkhand drama had many heroes, including Mr. Bidwai.

Why Mr. Bidwai? We have a system of first past the winning post. Yet, he offers a specious logic of summing up votes of Congress-JMM-RJD-Left Front to provethe point. He should also add votes of independents, invaliod votes and votes which were not cast. The resultant conclusion is more suied to his logic.
Mr. Somnath Chaterjea conveniently tells the press that he is not concerned with acts of Governor in the instant case. His view is cvourt transgressed its limits. But Somnathda conveniently forgets the fct that even executive cannot transgress and encroach upon legislative powers and priovileges. Yet, when Goa government of Parrikar was dismissed by the executive power, he kept quiet. He is Hero no.2.
Mr. Soren? Well, JMM case was dismissed by supreme court as it cannot decide upon matters which are within the ambit of legislature. Everybody knows that money was exchanged for winning a vote of confidence and our parliament under able leadership of Chaterjea keeps quiet.Soren emerges as a teflon coated hero as neither JMM scandal nor Jharkhand shenigans affect him.
For Bidwai, President and Courts are the real villains.
