What is democratic
by Sanjay on Mar 19, 2005 01:13 AM  Permalink

What you did (sorry din't do) in Gujrat is undemocratic. You have no right to question anybody. It's their country they can do wnatever they want. Not like how you din't do anything. Getting confused?

Arjun Appadurai!! do you know the facts
by Gaurav Sharma on Mar 19, 2005 12:25 AM  Permalink

I read this article and comments of Arjun Appadurai on Modis visa rejection. I just want to tell Arjun that will the same US which talks about human rights punish appropriately the people involved in Abu Gharib; i'am sure NO. It will only be to show to the media but not in practice. And will the same US government which boasts of human rights and equality condemn the actions against human rights and democracy in China -- US just does'nt have the guts to do so. And will this US revoke or think of not granting a vis to Musharraf - the biggest terrorist leader in the world NEVER. And did these US politicians react when Hindus were massacared in Godhra -- Not at all. This is only an attempt by the US to stop the bonding and peace process between Hindus and Muslims in India in general and in Gujarat in particular. I request you not to put fuel in the fire that US has put in india by this act.

Insult to Constitution?
by Anshuman on Mar 19, 2005 12:00 AM  Permalink

Insult to Constitution was when Mr. Modi did not step down owing moral responsibilities for the Gujarat issue! Insult to constitution was when he sat from the sideline and watched the populace go braying for blood of each other!

America can go to the dogs! But thank you Mr. Modi for showing us the way to go the dogs too.

Mr.Modi.... r u a mahatma Gandhi? how can it be an insult to constitution and nation if u r denied visa?
the horrible riots are still in memories of every Indian. and every country can take its own decision abt whom to give visa and whom to deny. Please stop considering your self as national hero... I appreciate U.S government efforts in this regard. and I thank rediff for giving every citizen their right to voice their views...

Insult or a lesson to Modi
by Ananth Indian on Mar 18, 2005 11:16 PM  Permalink

Modi did not do anything against the killings of innocent people in Guajarath riots. Now, he has been taught a lesson, and why the hell he is whining over?

Modi, being a CM does not get you the privilegs of US President or an Indian president.

If you really want US visa, get recommendation letters from all the families who lost someone in
the riots. If you can't, please keep your mouth shut.

by sasanka Bhushan on Mar 18, 2005 10:51 PM  Permalink

Yes, If we have enough dam in us we should deny the visa of any US army heads. That is called shame to US country.
But Denial of Modi's visa is a shame to him. not to the country. Please donot dare to bring the country into it.

Narendra rightly gets the boot
by Saket on Mar 18, 2005 10:45 PM  Permalink

How dare he say "US inposing its rules". Well, they are revoking THEIR privilage extended to him to enter THEIR country. He has no say in that. Does he think the whole world is Gujarat?

Narendra Modi
by arpi on Mar 18, 2005 10:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am very glad that Mr. Modi was denied the VISA. He has shamed our country and all laws of human rights. I reside in the US and take great pride in being an Indian. Mr. Modi alone knows how he managed to win the election. He is backed by a corrupt system with no morality whatsoever. The Union government should use its last ounce of common sense and not back Mr. Modi on this issue. Let this be a lesson to him and atleast at this point I hope his conscience is awakened.

RE:Narendra Modi

Santosh:

Does tackling the internal issues means keeping your eyes shut to genocide, murders, etc.? Narendra Modi, whether you like it or not, is the scum of the earth and, if his actions are any indication, a mentally imbalanced person. The million dollar question is why this man with dubious background made frequent trips to USA and Europe? I wonder whether this man is capable of delivering a speech extempore in English or, for that matter, in an European language to any professional bodies. Narendra Modi must have gone to west only to collect money from rich NRI Indians and pocketed a good amount of money and spent the others in nefarious activities. In return, he must have compromised himself to favour these NRIs, who sole motto is to make big money in shortest possible time, throwing ethics and principles to wind.

Narendra Modi may be an idol and hero to some, but to others he is a man who has indulged in mass genocide, contrary to the rich teachings of Hinduism, and his notoriety will not desert him at all, even though he may do pilgrimages, penance, fasting, etc.

Don't talk like a confused desi. India and Indians have the right to tackle our internal issues not any third country. Coke and Mac have confused persons like you.
