Another Indo-Pak series and another chaos.I wonder why so much fuss over just another tournament?
One can rarely find so much of papparazi for any other sport. If i m writing all this, does not mean that i hate cricket.Infact i m a great cricket fan. But it's the question of biased treatment which irks me.And now the media has one more reason to go crazy. The reason -Musharraf's visit. He will be coming to watch the game and then will go back. But there are people who sees another oppurtunity in this visit. Can India-Pakistan relations be mended by inviting the general?Well ,only god knows!
I would like to wish the Indian team all the very best.Hope they manage to win the Kolkata test.
once OBL is captured, this tinpot general will go the way of the rest - his utility for the US gone. that of course assumes that the US gets hold of him from his hideout in Karachi
I agree with the author on some aspects. However, he missed some very important points wrt Indian psyche which is as follows
(a) Indian rulers (particularly Hindus) have been by and large cowardly and pusillanimous since 1101 A.D. (the first attack by Mahmud Ghazni on India) with exceptions like Shivaji, the rajputs of Chittaurgarh, Prithviraj Chauhan...etc
(b) This collective "Hindu Cowardice" has only been exacerbated with "Nehruvian Secularism" which despises Hindus, India and whatever Indian Civilisation stands for
In this context, our "Hindu Rulers" are behaving very much like their ancestors over hundreds of years. No wonder that India is called a "soft state". I would go one step ahead and call it a "cowardly state". Worser still, someone might even call India as a "Eunuch State"
I heard the Statement of the pleading General of pakistan ...I am interested in visiting India , but i will visit if they invite me !!!!!! & this they publish & so that the news crosses the border .....as we do have good mehman nawazi ......he knew we wud invite him......but wud he be here just or cricket or some diplomatic moves are moving in his mind......This is not cricket....& not even a good thing to publish i will go therte if they invite me.....truely..shamefull...
Despite numerous experiences to the contrary, India continues to believe whatever overtures Pakistani heads of state, especially Pervez Musharraf makes. Most surprising is the attitude of the Indian media especially electronic media. Yesterday on NDTV, some over-eager journo kept on following Musharraf's family all around Delhi. Later to finish the story he said "Wherever they go they will be followed by the Media" !! Why should the Indian media follow them? This Pak fixation in the media is unexplicable. Why the hell cant we view it like some other country? All this talk of unhealed wounds is total hogwash. "Veer Zaara" being pro-Pakistan,was a hit while "Lakshya" was a flop because it was anti, is just taking things a bit too far. Bottomline is these two teams play good cricket together, just as they play good cricket with other teams. An India-Australia encounter would be as riveting as an India-Pakistan one. An India-centric attitude has brought Pakistan where it is today. That is the peril we face if we and especially our media continue our unilateral focus on Pakistan.
Why give so much importance to him ?. After all he is not President Bush. Govt should ask one of our Generals to receive him at the airport. Let him face our soldiers than the politicians. May be they know how to handle this man. He is the same general who imposed war on us. Our politicians forget this so easily.
Please stop this hate mongering !!! I am really sick of these idiots who go on screaming "hate musharraf" "hate pak" "hate pak leader-x,y,z whatever" at the top of their voices. I ask them do they have any solution to suggest apart from going for another war with pak, during which they will be busy in their "dandapani's" behind comfortable corridors and again innocent lives will be taken. But they dont care! they simply intend to preach hate and rivalry and sit back comfortably.

Gentleman,
The writer is only expressing his apprehensions from the past experiences. Dont you remember what happened in the past? After Zia Ul Haq visit, Kashmir violence erupted, after Lahore bus journey Kargil happened and after Agra summit Parliament attack took place. If past is any indication, we can expect something similar adventurous steps from our beloved neighbor. I hope my expectation will turn wrong this time atleast. But India should behave cautiously with the General/ President/ CEO of our neighbor country.
Nobody is willing to go to war with our neighbor. If we have not fought one even after the symbol of our democracy, Parliament being attacked, it only shows our countrys self resistance towards war. Do remember, India has never attacked other countries. It has only fought war in self-defence.
we cannot agree more apart from the fact that citizens living in a metro have to suffer for these out of the turn loive for a "game". Leaders visit Delhi and create traffic problems when they come for state visit. Well, that is unavoidable. In the name of cricket, we do not want to invite any head of state and we are concerned that we get emotional and go out of the way to invite (well, they get invited through feelers) when it comes to Pakistan.WHy is INdian government/leadership always on the defensive when it comes to diplomatic relations? Please see reasons in the dissenting voices as well, Mr. P.M. who we think is a little more sensible than our Foreign Minister.
