But it was definitely a tremor... I felt it for a few seconds. we decide the leave the office premises and getdown on ground floor . There was no harm or damage. But some files, bottles and water glasses tumbled."

Panic in Pune
by Navin Prakash Choubey on Mar 14, 2005 06:38 PM  Permalink

I was working in my office then (Cybage, a software company in Pune). I was sitting in an easy chair notwithstanding, I felt vibration as if I were sitting in a diesel driven vehicle. Within a few seconds my colleagues, who were in neighboring cubicles, stood up and got panicked. Some of them watched out of the window to verify if the neighboring structures are OK or not.

After a few minutes when we became assured that our building is safe and there is no destruction in our surrounding we started opening the websites of various newspapers. Rediff was one of the first to report this event.

We were worried about the centre of the shock. I called my family members, who live in Patna, over phone to know that the quake had not at all been felt there.

Finally I initiated a discussion thread in the message board of my office to ask colleagues' opinion and suggestions related to the event.
