I don't understand why rediff publishes such biased and partisan articles. In a free country like ours, every individual is allowed to have independent opinin but it is alarming that how the pro left and pro Congress people have permitted themselves to think that it is imperative to prevent the formation of a BJP government at state or national level at any cost. What does the author mean by 'working' people, I am sure the word is intended to point towards blue collar workers, does the author believe that white collar workers do not work? The author should remember that this is 2005, where everyone 'works' and not a factory of bygone days when there were 'workers' and 'officers'.
Mr. Praful Bidwai,it seems, has come to the conclusion that a "left-centre,secular" UPA govt. is the only panacea to problems faced by our country.(The BJP and others have no right to be in politics even!!) He conveniently passes off the blatant assault on the democratic traditions of our country by the Congress led UPA govt. as demonstrated in Jharkhand as a necessary corollary in "imparting" a "left-centre" turn to the national politics(It is OK for the Congress to indulge in its trademark "dirty tricks" so long as the "communal forces" are kept out of power.)
Mr. Bidwai would do well to remember that in his blind visceral hatred of the NDA and everything that the BJP(the so-called "communal neo-liberal" forces) is associated with, he is in fact advocating a brand of politics which is "exclusively secular" in nature, contrary to the inclusivist "left-centre" ideology he claims to represent.
I feel the title of the article should have been 'I am now awake'. FInally Bidwai has been shaken from his deep slumber. Common be realistic, be very realistic.
Mr Bidwai writes that Mr Prasad of Bihar fame has been remarkably deficient in providing public services such as schools, power hospitals, roads etc over a 15 year period. And yet supports him unashamedly. So what has the Govt of bihar under Mr. Prasad achieved and why should he not be pilloried.
Poor Praful... his hatred for BJP so evident. If you hate Laloo then you are savarna media... but if you hate BJP then you are secular media. What rubbish. Get a life.
