We have always only voted to teach a lesson, I wish we should also learn lessons. Unless we learn a lesson or two, we will endlessly vote only to teach lessons.

Democracy Ruin
by dkamle on Jun 24, 2010 12:48 PM  Permalink

People wonder- how we became from the least corrupt nation to one of the most corrupt nation in 30 yrs time.

She introduced the concept of commited misters, commited beaurocrats, commited CBI, commited police - which meant people who will work for her and the country. Her son used the entire machinery to his own benefit, introducing the culture of corruption in the process.

Our I.A.S was one of the most efficient in 60's.She ruined the complete institution.

She was trying to fiddle around with the judiciary as well, when the Allahabad court order for her arrest was impending. Finally she came up with Emergency. Nehru was once asked whether his daughter can come into politics, he categorically said, she is not fit/capable for that.

Congis always overruled Law
by Rajesh zha on Jun 23, 2010 06:02 PM  Permalink

Indira Gandhi's election was cancelled as fraud in voting was proved against her....court's judgement was against her..

But she wanted to be in power by hook or crook..So she imposed emergency.

Big example of congis not abiding by law...
Anderson freed by Congi leaders..
After that Shahabano case...Rajiv turned supreme court's decision
Quatrochi freed by Sonia MAino
Recent- Afjal Guru case congis did deliberate attempt to cancel hanging even order by SC

MAny instances where these pseudo sikcular congis overruled supreme court and law.

now i realise wat the emergency period in the 1970s had done to india.if history needs to be rewritten ,then i wud welcome the same emergency to be declared now and get rid of all corruption, crimes, social and political evils and finally get rid of the Congress party.i may not like indira, but i want a similar kind of leader who wud change india now.

by Sreedhar Kesireddy on Jan 07, 2006 04:12 PM  Permalink

It is a sad period of our democratic country.
Very shameful.Congress never change. Now also they are actively involved in tapping the opponents phones. To survive, to succeed they are the one who never think about "Dharma".

COUNTRY IS SAFE BECAUSE OF WELL MEANING PEOPLE
by Brig J S Ahuja on Jun 29, 2005 01:07 PM  Permalink

There is no doubt that it was the darkest period of Indian democracy, a blot and a matter of shame on all Indians who had failed in their judgement in electing such irresponsive politicians . It all started with the system of nomination developed to elect the leader of the house .Jawahar Lal Nehru became the first PM by this process . Had there been by proper election amongst the MPs , the history would have been different . His daughter became the worst and dismantled all the institutions of the democratic system. They virtuall became the rulers of this great country.

There is a very little ray of hope that we as a nation will have a proper democracy run by responsible people.
