Tarun and all others who read this - the rot in the Indian political system sure does trigger a feeling of repulsion among any responsible, country-loving citizen. I read some of the comments posted for this article and felt the urge to point out the following: we all hate our politicians, we all want politics reformed, we all want clean people to lead us, and we all think that we are as clean as one can get. Then why dont we go ahead and lead?agreed that not everyone is a leader. the irony is that at one side we want good leaders/lead organizations or political parties, but the moment we hv one such organization, then everything it does is viewd from political angle. we somehow cant believe that someoone who is in politics can also do a good deed without political angle to it. so if an RSS does smth good, if they raise some geniune issue thru their political mouthpirces, why are we so skeptical abt the intentions?is it that we have come to believe that we really CANT hv any political leadership or representation that can do good for us while in a position of power & authority?time to rethink and encourage such organizations rather than suspect their every deed!
contd.. and its poll partner the SHIV-SENA have protested tabling of the anti-blind faith bill, in the name of hinduism). Although its common sight to see RSS Khaki Nickers dharis at the sight of any calamity, it is done more as a publicity stunt, (just as the NAZIS used to do in pre-war germany) because when its comes to cleansing the hindu society from the aforesaid dirty practices the RSS is invisible. Who will forget the RSS`s stand on sati, the roop kanwar episode is still fresh in our minds. The RSS`s Mahila brigade goes from house to house of lower castes people spreading the `virtues` of husband worship, dowry, child marriage and all things contrary to the growth and development of women, on the other hand the so-called higher caste women are spared from these sermons, why?. By naming BJP, VHP & Bajrangdal the authour is smartly trying to shield the source of all mischef, and that is the RSS. If the RSS really wants india to develop socially also it should tackle these issues on war front, then only it would be taken seriously as a social and cultural organisation.
One more poor attempt by a RSS swayansevak to potray RSS as different from its siblings from the sangh parivaar, viz; VHP, BAJRANGDAL,et al,. The RSS is the inspiration for all these tamasha that is carried on in the name of hinduism by the VHP and its ilks. The authour eulogises the RSS for social work done in the remote areas of india, although, nobody would wish to deny the credit that is due to the RSS and its progenies wherever it is due, but we also knows that all the social work was done to counter the influence of the communinst and evangelist on the poor and marginalised section of the society and thereby create a vote bank for the BJP. Just as the britishers created english educated indian middle class to serve its administrative purpose the Rss is similiarly creating vote banks amongst the scs, sts & obcs to broaden political space for the BJP, and the latter overtly and covertly pushes its casteist agenda beneficial to the "upper castes". I would like to know from the authour as to what has the RSS done to eradicate untouchability, female foeticide, women empowerment and liberation, child marriage, blind faith (Ironically, in maharashtra the BJP and.. contd;
It was the right article at right time. It was pleasure knowing that it was written by a so called "hardliner". It is really awful to see all our so called "experienced"leaders talking about a non-issue called Jinha. Who is he to agitate our political condition. And Media, especially, television channels, are equally responsible to blow the issue out of proportion. It seems they are running out of material or dont bother to go out and find good inspiring stories. It is so shameful to see all the reporter lining outside residences of politicians to check on the meetings where nothing but such non issues are discussed and later presenting such stories as "Breaking News". Pakistan and related problems must not be the survival food for political parties like BJP. They cant earn votes by such NATAKS.
I am amazed to see this great piece from Mr. Vijay, who I always thought was a hindu hardliner. What he has written is honest and I am sure is the voice of millions. Our politicians lack accountability and are a bunch of hypocritical thugs who think only about themselves. Unfortunately, in our media, they still attract the limelight and the true heroes of India remain unsung. Thanks to Mr. Vijay to bring this up. Great job.
Tarun: You are advising us to look towards the 'real' leaders like Aurobindo, Hedgawar, Jagmohan and some doctor or a social activist from Belgium. But that's past history. The tragedy of our times is that we have some other 'real' leaders like Laloo Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mayawati and YSR Reddy, Buta Singh and Sibte Razi, who weild considerable power to change the course of current events. Pl. advise us how to deal with them? - Thanks -- Gopal Sharma.
The tendency to look down upon politicians is extremely dangerous. For the RSS (or any other social worker/organisation) to continue to work without fear, it needs a conducive atmosphere. The very fact that CPI/CPM and Congress have spared no effort to crush RSS speaks volumes for the utility of benign politicians.
You cannot expect a politician to follow individual/personal moral standards. RSS is not doing itself any favour by denigrating politicians. This article is just like the deer cursing its legs because they don't look nice. Much can be written on this theme, however, for this comment, I must say that I strongly protest the tone and tenor of Tarun Vijay's article.
Tarun Viajay, Very nice article indeed. Unfortunately to expect our political leaders to think in such terms is at best an Utopia. But dream we must and we hope that someday a great leader with the values you described will change the destinity of our nation for the betterment of our people so India can take its rightful place of pride and distinction amongst nations of world.
Again , unfortunately , the saying 'power corrupts & absolute power corrupts absolutely ' essentially describes Indian politicians and the political scene to-day in our country. I believe , a study of psychology of people in power or people that influence course of history of a nation or a society will be very educative and can show us the rightful path to follow.
Surly,we too are disturbed by all that has happened consequent upon Advani's remarks in Pakistan--although,it is true that they were not his remarks, he merely quoted from the published account of Jinnha's speech and published account of Sarojini Naydu's remarks.And surly even in a negative sense Mr.Jinnha influenced course of hitory in sub continent. Everyone overreacted. Too much emotion. Less reason.Sad indeed.
