jinnah hall
by Mukhtar lokhandwala on Jun 22, 2005 07:56 PM  Permalink

Whatever is being done at the present by Mr.Yagnik and his companions is appriciable and people should help instead of wanting to change names and make it look communal

Hall
by A V Koshy on Jun 14, 2005 11:03 AM  Permalink

Kudos to these Indian gentlemen who have once again proved that action is so much more louder than words. Complete appreciation to them for standing up and declaring that though Jinnah or his family members have anything to do with the hall, they would not succumb to pressure and rename it just for the sake of renaming it.

They are the true secularists. They understand that names dont make a man. They understand that the hall was once named after a person whose credentials as an Indian patriot was unimpeachable, his actions said so. In his later life, he was blatantly biased, no doubt, but it was not simply his fault alone. The Congress and the british both were at fault as much as he and the League.

Renaming a hall would have had unecessary connotations and they preferred to let them be.

They understood that everyone has their own version of history. The question is do we have the sense to understand it too?

Jinnah

Hanif bhai, When we hear Godse first thing that comes in our mind is the man behind Bapu's murder. Similarly for Jinnah first word that comes is PARTITION & after that naming a trust in his name, I think is not justified for any SECULAR INDIAN.

jinnah secular?????????
by gurpreet on Jun 14, 2005 06:43 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

hey guys ,
how can you call jinnah a secular person, when same person was responsible for the partiton of this great
nation as well as culture and slaughter of lacs
of people during the riots that followed in 1947.

perhaps jinnah regreted creating pakistan afterwords.
but the damage was already done.

our matured politicians should not praise
such kind of people publicly, play and hurt
sentiments of people of this great nation.

and also this not a debatable topic at all and
i rquest the the media as well as rediff.com
to stop giving undue importance to this topic.
by not publishing it.
becoz jinnah sucks////////////////////

the title is misleading
by himansu on Jun 14, 2005 12:32 AM  Permalink

The title of this news piece gives an impression that this trust is Jinnah's doing but if u read carefully jinnah has nthg to do with this trust except that he returned the money. Credit shd go to the congressmen who formed this trust. I am sure if they had had any idea abt what Jinnah wd go on to do they wdn't have named the trust after him.

jinna
by gaurav jain on Jun 13, 2005 10:46 PM  Permalink

i strongly object to teh twisted facts used in the colimn.
so if you rae denied the minister post and your party not allied with in election , do you get the right to demand for teh separate pakistan. you cannot deny the fact that he demanded separate pakistan on communal basis. nor can you deny the fact that despite gandhiji literally begged to him to give up the idea and offered him the post of first prime minister to lead india, jinna was reluctant as he knew he has gone too far and now pakistann has to evolve. i really pity on the columinst ideology of secularism. it is same as if a person justifies advani to be secular.
