Baseless and nonsense! No details or proof..
by Rakesh on Jun 08, 2005 07:10 PM  Permalink

To make such serious headline grabbing allegation that can create huge uproar in such a sensitive area without any shread of proof or evidence is very unprofessional and childish behaviour by rediff. Upon reading the article very carefully, I could only gather that the author has a "feeling" that Advani could have walked into a trap laid by ISI, no details on why or how, let alone any solid proof. What does the author try to imply: Advani was drugged and therefore he was not in his own self when he made those comments or did Advani made those comments under some kind of threat from ISI? How can any man, in his own self, believe these comments to be some kind of a product of a trap by ISI? Come back to the real world, Mr. author!

Advani is wrong
by Chandu on Jun 08, 2005 07:08 PM  Permalink

It was a grave mistake on the part of Advani ji to make such statements in Pakistan. I agree with the author, that Advani ji has failed in upholding his responsibilities as the leader of opposition.

Jinnah is secular--why not?
by susarla on Jun 08, 2005 07:01 PM  Permalink

No body defines what is secularism but people keep arguing who is secular and who is not. As per my contemporary understanding of Indian politics, I can say a person who is not a Hindu or who dislikes Hinduism and its culture is secular. Also, any person who is obsessed with the well being of Muslims and believes in giving full liberty to Islamic fundamentalists in their mission to eliminate Kaffirs is also secular. So, why is Jinnah not secular?

Complete agreement
by Ashish on Jun 08, 2005 06:57 PM  Permalink

I completely agree with the facts and the opinions expressed in the column by Sh. B. Raman.
Infighting has always been the most defeating reason for the Hindu community, and for our Nation at large. We need to grow up and talk on certain issues withought having to ponder too hard with singular thought.

Again and again the misquote...
by Rahul on Jun 08, 2005 06:51 PM  Permalink

Advani DID NOT say Jinnah was a secularist. What he said was that the vision of Pakistan, that Jinnah outlined in the speech to the constituent assembly on Aug 15 1947, is of what we would call a secular society. There is no question about this, and Advani was not saying something unheard of. It is, however, something successive generations of Pakistani leaders have tried to suppress. I\\\\\\\'m astonished that the Pakistani reaction to his speech, which would have been iconoclastic for them, has been mild and even welcoming, while our reaction is so barbaric.

Confused Advani/Raman
by ambarish on Jun 08, 2005 06:49 PM  Permalink

Mr Raman,
1) Advani was infact born and brought up in Pakistan, and he too migrated from pakistan to india and nobody else than himself knows the pains of it.
2) Musharaff met hurriyat leaders for he has his selfish ness in meeting them.Advani dosent need to do that cause he is not in the government.
3) Plz dont come up with such not so good articles.

Mr. Advani's comments about Jinnha
by Sushil Pugalia on Jun 08, 2005 06:45 PM  Permalink

As per historic records, Jinnha can not be tolerated or forgiven for what he did to this suncontinent.

However, sticking to the past will not serve us any thing. He is not here to bear the result of his misdeeds. It is better to create space between the hardliners and progressive group in both countries so that more and more interactions in peoples are made. Let hardliners be happy that one hard liner stop to be aggressive against them. But the object is to get like minded peoples to be closer.

If we are not having healthy relations between two nations, it is not because of moderate or progressive peoples, but because of these hardliners who control Pakistan. Musharaff could have signed on the dotted line with Atalji, had he did not visualise hardliners in his country. Just remember, how his return was kept secret while all other things were 'live' on media.

If you want to achieve something, then something else has to go. A flower converts into fruit at proper time. So its time to get the fruit and let the flower 'go'. If you just get struck with the beauty of flower, then you will never have a fruit.

I think Mr. Advani is a wise person and has taken good step.
