Advani's remarks
by Amol Tamhane on Jun 08, 2005 07:56 PM  Permalink

If history cannot be changed, it's advisable that it be accepted. It is an omen sign that BJP, and RSS outfit, through it's president has accepted a fact that Pakistan is reality. And two countries can't become one again, the dream RSS has long cherished.

I think media is unreasonably going into a wrong dispute of terming someone as secular by some other individual, political leader or not.

The fact that should have been seen is that Mr. Advani has referred to Jinnah's speech around midnight independence, which categorically and implicitely accepted the fact that the infamous two-nation theory was false. By pointing to this statement by Father of Pakistan, Mr. Advani has sent a message to Pakistani rulers over Kashmir dispute.

The message must have been seen that if Two-Nation theory is wrong, there is no question of Kashmir being cause of dispute for the reason of majority being Muslims. It was ceded into India long time back by its Ruler Maharaja Harisingh.

Wish Hindu outfits (especially VHP) and media were more sensible in dealing with the matter.

I agree though with the fact that Advaniji should have raised the issue of terrorists seeking refugee in Pakistan.

Did ISI lay a trap for Advani
by Commodore Sudheer Parakala (Retired) on Jun 08, 2005 07:52 PM  Permalink

A well analysed article. There is no doubt that Advani fell neatly into the trap laid jointly by Musharraf and ISI.

Coming to the earlier part, I have said time and again that it is time for all wise thinking people on either side of the border to undo what the British or Jinnah have done before partition. Let us sink all the differences and reunite to become a super power. Are our leaders on either side so dumb as not to see what interests the Western powers have of fomenting hatred amongst the people on either side? Let us get rid of Musharrafs and all others who tow the Western powers.
Let us not talk about referendum on Kashmir but let us talk about refrendum on reuniting to form Indistan.

Did the ISI lay trap for Advani
by Abhijeet on Jun 08, 2005 07:45 PM  Permalink

If we study the British archives befor 1947.
I say if we study and not just read.
Jinnah, Gandhi and Nehru all three of them allowed themsleves to be used by british to polorise the Hindu-Muslim community. Also study how Gandhi and Nehru treated Bhagat singh, Netaji Bose, Savarkar, etc.

Hence if we call Gandhi a MAHATMA.
Then what's wrong in calling Jinnah a secular leader?

LK Advani
by K K Mohanan on Jun 08, 2005 07:44 PM  Permalink

Referring to Mr Raman's article on ISI's trap on LK Advani, if that is true (as it looks to be), then the ISI would be more than satisfied of having taught the "Loh Purush" a lesson, as they, like most Pakistanis and Indians do believe, that Advani camp is responsible for sabotaging President Musharaff's plans at the (in)famous Agra meet. Whatever be the truth, Mr Advani's comments on Jinnah sounds so stupid that it deserves no other result than what has happened now. It is a fact that within the larger umbrella of the Sangh Parivar, there are diverse forces and interests working and some day it was to happen. But it happened earlier than expected. The party is in turmoil in true sense. God Bless!

Did ISI lay a trap for Adwani?
by S.Ramaswamy on Jun 08, 2005 07:35 PM  Permalink

It is very much in the realm of conjecture to give credit to ISI for what patently is a blunder by the 'second iron man'.Mr Raman's analysis is excellent in so far as to point out the faux pas of the 'great' leader. He has certainly let down his followers. That a sober leader like Mr Vajpayee has been compelled to stand by his colleague adds to the tragedy
S.Ramaswamy,

advaniji
by G.P.SASTRY on Jun 08, 2005 07:35 PM  Permalink

The article is excellent. It represents the feelings of an average BJP worker. Particularly, when you have stated that Advaniji has represented Hindu parivar and BJP and not in his personal capacity, those remarks were irrelevant, although they may be facts or otherwise.

I fully appreciate your effort in bringing out a detailed analysis about the episode.

Good article
by Balaji on Jun 08, 2005 07:27 PM  Permalink

The author has laid threadbare the reasons for the current crisis within the BJP and Sangh Parivar. Advani easily got caught in the trap laid by Musharraf. The Muslim fundamentalist groups in Pakistan will be clearly relishing the situation.
