Thanks Colonel!
by Sumit Batra on Jun 02, 2005 11:44 PM  Permalink

This came as a surprize! I had never ever come across any details of the Ganga hijack incident. I`m sure that our trust in the country's military establishment is strong enough not to get driven by a stupid Paki! Someone please remind these paki kids about the kind of defeats they`ve suffered at our hands!!!! How can they forget 1971.. Kargil!

Gohar Khan and his antics?
by Vinod Tuli on Jun 02, 2005 09:49 PM  Permalink

Col Anil Athale, perhaps is the first author who has tried to judge the ongoing controversy in correct perspective. The so called 'super sensational disclosure; hyped more by India media than the reality, appears to be well planned to divert attention from the truth - whatever it may mean. Just visualise - the timing, Advani in Pak for a week, communal uprising in Pak only a fortnight back and gestures of 'goodwill & bad will' - (read between the lines)- Huriyat Delegation on J& K Front; Bole So Nihal controversy- old ISI planlk; Bofors et al, are all good recipes for intellectuals/defence/media channels and experts to deliberate upon for good next few weeks. Remember, Pak media (other than NEWS Daily) has not supported/denied/ or hyped that much as Indian media has done, barring a few channels. And what the living Indian veterans of Brigadier level of those times have said shows indirectly that many a time, as is the practice in journalism release of a book and much more commonly used ploy is to raise or get raised some controversy at or around the release of a film especially in Bollywood. Vinod Tuli.

Did India plant 1965 war plans?
by labrea on Jun 02, 2005 09:03 PM  Permalink

Who really knows - Indians are probably the most corruptible people. But the fact is, India never pressed its advantage nor seemed able to contain the Pakistanis due to cowardly generals and stupid netas, who were unwilling to fund thier military in the face of such implacble enemies on her east, north and west borders, and have still not learned from their mistakes. The military is still hamstrung by thier incompetent politician bosses too busy squabbling and trying to bring down their opponents, uncaring as to whether they are weakening thier nation's defences.

Seems likely
by Sunil Sharma on Jun 02, 2005 08:46 PM  Permalink

Excellent article. i have had the privilege of attending the colonel\\\\\\\'s lecture on military history. I have yet to see any sensible utteances from the other side of the border other than rhetoric.
This what separates our uniformed soldiers and their Leadership ( Officers of Army, navy and Air Force) from theirs. Oours are Gentleman with Valour and top storey refined with professional skills as is evident from the very astute and amusing article. But in the times the indain public must not be misled into doubting the integrity and loyalty of our soldiers.

Why is Indian Army even considering to have probe/ investigation. Do they have any doubt about its integrity. They should see the whole thing as comic episode and laugh it away because everyone knows how sucessfull was Indian armys plans in 65 and miserabaly Pakistanis failed.

Why does this man talk about happenings 40 years back while the peace process is on with countries all over watching with admiration. He is s typical 'Story Teller'. What does he want ? Pakistanis should arrest this man immedietly(and Hang him) if they are serious about peace process.

Selling of 1965 war plan
by Rakesh on Jun 02, 2005 06:21 PM  Permalink

It was really a humour which gave us - the Indians a small break.......to laugh at Pakistanis.Wat a fun it is even after a Plan to capture their land was bought from an Indian Army officer and still if they could'nt win ,Mr.Khan should have realised the stupidity, ignorance & lack of proffessionalism his own men, rather than making it Public.
Any way we owe a lot to Mr.Khan who told the world that "Beware of India, its forces & Inteeligence".Its never possible to make a foul play with India & if at all someone plays they will realise their failure & make public statements after 30-40 years.

Jai Hind !
