by krishan K Arora on Jul 28, 2005 07:30 PM  Permalink

This is indeed a proud moment for every Indian worldwide and I heartily salute the President of India, the Union Govt and the State Govts for bringing the education at your door steps. It's like coming of Satguru at your doorsteps. Keep it up Mr Abdul Kalam and Dr Manmohan Singh and accept my congratulations!

by Abhijeet Nirmal on Jul 28, 2005 07:25 PM  Permalink

Congratulation to all scientist who has made it possible. Special thanks to Honourable President of India for taking this initiative.

It is great initiative to link science with the social aspect. Science should be linked for the well being of society. I hope some more initiative will be taken to link the Agricultural sector to help our farmer which can be a boost for the Food Security of India.

Edusat - VICTER project in Kerala
by Suneesh on Jul 28, 2005 06:39 PM  Permalink

This is one of the bold initiative taken by Government of Kerala. I especially congratulate ISRO and Ministry of Education, Kerala for their tie up. This will definitely changes the viewership quality of Kerala students. Nowadays more students are got in trap with commercial channels and their masalas. If the authorities are taking intelligent steps to take students to their imaginative levels through the progaramme set up, I am sure this may be a revolution in entire India. I don't know whether it can be accessed through Doordarshan,s DTH network, if so this would be like sweet on honey.

Good job guys!
by Pam on Jul 28, 2005 06:20 PM  Permalink

Hi,
How many times till now we have been really upset about our education system & cribbing about it...esp. IGNOU...the distance education university!
Indeed, one of its kind, that we dont read normally. This step by ISRO n IGNOU is worth appreciating, esp in nation like ours where recieving education at the cost of heavy donations goes astray.
So guys, be proud of our Univ., (ignore the updation of our marks though ;)

High-tech education in India
by Dr.Vidyasagar on Jul 28, 2005 06:09 PM  Permalink

While our scientists deserve big applause for the achievement in education, we shuld not build castles in the air. For, ours is society, large segments of its population are still reeling under poverty. Millions of our youth and students are not accessible to minimum employment. we have huge army of under privileged communities taht are confined to remote areas. As long as we do not prioritise our goals and social responsibilities, we may not achieve expected targets in any sector. Unlike the most advanced societies, we need to utilise our large mass of human resources effectively, rather than depriving them of their job opportunities. Viewed in this perspective, even this high-tech education programme launched by our President today cannot be encouraged by the public. Besides several other side-effects of this project, human relations cannot be built by machines like computers and televisions.
