What's the purpose of the visit? Let's get something straight; We deserve what we got. Who elected the current government / administration......we did. Did any of us even bother to check any of these guys credentials.....whether they know anything re: the portfolio they manage let alone any expertise that they may have in that field!! Remember, WE ELECT THE ADMINISTRATORS; WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW; THEY ARE ANSWERABLE TO US. What we need as India's financial hub is a bunch of dedicated, educated and honest people who will work to make a difference......not to their own lifestyle but to this city. There are cities in the west that face much harsher conditions and yet they are far better off than we are. God forbid if Mumbai experienced an earthquake (we are in Zone III on India's earthquake zoning map), wonder what we can rely on the administration for? The media reports that I've read in the past couple of days clearly indicate that our government CANNOT BE RELIED ON!! Where is the crisis hotline, disaster management plan, crisis teams?? And pray someone tell me how is the PM's visit going to make a difference? Mr PM, can we have some action instead!!
These kind of situations always bizzare me. Why is our system always so weak, why can't we plan all these kind of natural disasters in advance and build our cities to overcome these.
There are more bigger cities in the world which have the same kind of situations as of mumbai, but the planning and infrastructure maintenance of those have made them to overcome these situations.
Is it the Planning we lack in? Or the support to Planning?
I am 26yrs old, i have seen the other parts of the world, i always feel "why can't we plan properly".
It would be really helpful if you could give hourly updates about the rains in Mumbai. I know you are trying your best, but information like if the rain has reduced, stopped, which suburban train services have resumed etc. will be very helpful. Also the hourly information from parts like Thane (including ambernath, badlapur etc. ) will be much appreciated. The phone lines are all dead and we are not able to contact any of our family members. Some info like this would atleast be kind of a solace. The concern is not only for our family but overall for our mumbaikars...so please keep us updated on all fronts. And thanks for doing all what you have done until now.
