The article appears well concieved on the overall Nuclear strategy India requires over next 2 decades. The article in reality provides only surfacial answers to some of the issues involved.
While the dire need for augmenting India's power cannot be left unattended, the price it has to pay for this requires a well thought-out political game plan.
The foresight put into the process of striking a deal should be such as to only add to the vision for India as a Big Power over next decades without sacrificing any of its basic non-aligned stature. The analysis naturally should consist of all that are seen from India's standpoint as well as that of US standpoint. Gains or the demerits cannot be heavily burdened against any one of the parties to the deal. If India obtains more direct material gain, the US on the other hand may get more of strategic political gain.
During this analysis all that India needs to safeguard is its sovereignity. If somebody can do this in detail, considering all factors - direct or indirect, it would be a great comfort to the readers.
I was wondering all the while why so much stress was being laid by the prime minister on nuclear cooperation. This article clearly brings out the reason why nuclear cooperation is so important and also brings out logically why the political rhetoric over nuclear security is baseless.
