Read the article about the oridinance of banning dance bars. The Dy. Chief Minister, Mr R.R. Patil, appears to be an honest politician. Let his good efforts succeed.

A right step
by Shashibhushan Gokhale on Jul 22, 2005 10:50 AM  Permalink

I would like to congratulate R.R.Patil and all the political parties for leaving aside their differences and coming forward to unanimously approve this bill. The returning of the bill be Governer was really a tragic event in the history of democracy in Maharashtra, leading to doubts about the integrity of the Governer. The people of Maharashtra through their elected representatives have demonstrated their desire against all such anti-social activities. The comment of deputy Chief minister, that the bar owners are using the cause of bar girls only for their own cause is very very true.
Now, lets hope it is really enforced in practice and spirit.

Dance bar ordinance: a true political grit
by dayanand on Jul 22, 2005 10:20 AM  Permalink

Kudos to Mr. Patil; in him I see some light at the end of corrupt, hopeless tunnel. Unless a leader like Mr. Patil show the kind of political grit that is shown in banning the dance bars in Maharashtra, there is no hope for the silent sufferers. He has taken the ever powerful lobby of the dance bar owners head on and has risked his own life. But still he is showing the courage and the political will to combat a menace. Let his tribe flurish.

Ban on Dance bars
by Nitin on Jul 22, 2005 08:47 AM  Permalink

I greatly appreciate the move by the government, and it is pleasent surprise that the politician (Shri Patil) has very openly criticised the fellow politician and corrupt government officiel and the corrupt policeman, I am fearing his life and political career.
Although brothels is required for the healthy society, dance bars are not.
Thank you Shri RR Patil and all the supporters.
