terrorism
by keshavamurthyhv on Jul 09, 2005 11:39 AM  Permalink

Sir,
your analysis is interesting; my views are as follows:
1. big countries-particularly the mad US-should understand everyone/human being has a right to live-irrespective of cast, religion, poor, rich, colour(black/white/brown etc,)
2. sovereignity of every country(big/small, democratic/communist etc,) to be respected and stop intereference in other affairs
3. the root cause of all terrorism is US and not others
4. all other countries(UK, FRANCE, GERMANY ETC,)should dissassociate with US
5. whole world to join hands together to hunt and drive away US from Iraq
6. US to be told to mind its business
7. other countries are targetted simply because of their support to US
8. no amount of military power is going to stop terrorism if sovereignity, interference is challenged
9. if this is not understood terrorism(as per US and others) will continue and will not stop for years to come
10. the whole worldleaders should understand this simple but logical truth

regards,
hv keshava murthy

London Lessions on Terrorism
by Kunuthur Srinivasa Reddy on Jul 09, 2005 11:37 AM  Permalink

The easiest and practical way to combat if not root out terrorism all over the Globe is to enable every inch of free land surface enough of water for survival i.e., no living organism on terrestrial land surface should suffer for want of water for its essential requirement. If this is achieved by human will and implemented, the terrorism would automatically disappear. The 'water' has that power of purification of the earth from negative human tendencies. Do We have the will to achieve this?

Good article
by Raj on Jul 09, 2005 11:14 AM  Permalink

Just as any of Mr.Raman's articles this too carries substance. It will be great if countries like US and others in the league give some thought on these kinda information. Especially i like the paragraph where you have mentioned how india even after having bitter experiences maintained their ethics towards religions. Hope to see many more such articles from your stable.

Why is this happening
by Xavier on Jul 09, 2005 11:00 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Yes sir i do agree that things are not happening in a good way in Iraq. One thing i cant digest is that why these terrorists have to aim prayer places and common gatherings to show their anger. Dont you think when they burn down a mosque they burn hundreds of Koran's and other holy articles?(Blast in afghanistan). All this shows how instable the world is. I think terrorism is terrorism.

When Saddam was in power there were lots of abuse and misuse of power. The world was keeping quiet at that time. Muslim bretheren were tortured and many were killed(Even they are Muslims).

But i think all these terrorist act going on Iraq is not about Religion. Iraq is centre of Middle east. If Iraq is going to get its Democratic government it will raise a revolution in all parts of middle east.

India is facing these terrorist attacks since Independence. Is this anything to do with religion?

Why cant we put the UK blast is the outcome of insecurity faced by terrorists in Iraq. They want to turn the attention of the world to some other place since most of the world is watching Iraq closely and they fear that they will be Identified.

Lets think on the happenings before we write.

Are we prepared for a simmilar strike in Mumbai
by Andrew Williams on Jul 09, 2005 10:25 AM  Permalink

Based on the possibilities in an underground I dread to think what can happen if something simmilar is attempted in Churchgate, Mumbai during rush hour.
God Forbid!I do know that the Indian emergency services are no where close to the London emergency services.
Widespread damage will further be compounded by poor supervision and lack of responsibility.
I seriously think our emergency services should simulate something simmilar in a controlled environment or develop a simmilar plan along the lines of the Metropolitan Emergency Services.

Lesson from 7/7
by JP Dubey on Jul 09, 2005 09:22 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Contrast this with the article: If it's a Muslim Problem , it needs a Muslim Solution by Thomas L Friedman- NYT News Service which some how got published in TOI today and you know why India has been suffering terrorist menace for two decades already including daring attacks on its parliament, Akshardham, Amarnath pilgrims and in Ayodhya. But the world will soon see the end to this menace because its US and UK which have unwittingly been targetted. They don't have to worry about secularism and vote bank. Speaking the bitter truth is blashphemy in India which ironically has had a history of jajia over the medieval period.
To quote... will never be secure as long as Muslim village and elders do not take on, delegitimise, condemn and isolate the extremists in their midst.

But whether they do it or not rest assure some muslim country must be profusely sweating right now. With Pakistan, Afganistan, and Iraq gone down it is a matter of time and perhaps some more unfortunate 9/11 and 7/7 before other countries fostering terrorism are severely put down. And we the 'secularists' of India can always be counted upon to severly criticise all such efforts to save the world from this madness.

A Nice Analysis ...
by Syed Taher on Jul 09, 2005 09:05 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think it is a very good analysis by Rediff. Yes it is very much true, that such things are done by a few angry people just as reaction to what US and allies are doing against muslims.

I would like to add one more point to this article. Muslims are the one who get the biggest disadvantage of these attackes. Their life become more miserable in those countires, they may get social bycott and lose chances of going to such countires for education or business or any such purpose. So, it cannot be said, in general, that Muslims have done it. But yes, Some muslim who's mother or father or sister might have seen the cruilty or might have lost the life in "US led war". And now a days there more and more such angry muslim younsters in Iraq, in Palestine etc.

So I think such instances should not be taken as the cause to attack more nations, rather it should be taken as a re-action to what wrong is being done. We dont find such activites a coupld of decades ago, but they are becoming only in last one decade, which itself supports this lesson.

greatness of the western countries???
so either you are a westerner here or a wannabe westerner. Gimme a break!!!
You said, Can any one deny that sept 9/11 acts are the most henious crimes against humanity?
Well, no doubt it is a big crime aginast humanity and I am saddened by it too, but what about Vietnam, crime against south american countries by US? tens of thousands died in the course of years. even more than the 10,000 died because of US bombing in Iraq..compared to 2000 in sept 11. Ofcourse asian lives does not count eh??
No, I am not justifying sept 11. there can be no justification for it, but don't act as if the West is innocent. they r the one who is equally responsible for the mess the world is in. The chicken has come back to roost!!!!!
