covers. So why discuss this issue with an entirely different context. Why not talk about religious leaders of all teh communities, using religion to hide and defend all their anti socail activities. And where will we get more exapmles of then if not India, where the babas, sadhus, peers, faqeers all are looting the poors with both their hands in the name of religion. He feels sad about India, saying "its eternal Sanatana Dharma is under threat". Yes its under threat, but not because the reasons he describes. Its under threat bacause the happenings in Gujrat, its under threat because the burning of Stains in Orissa, its under threat because in tamil Nadu they can not forget that they are "suvarn" (upper casts) even in the after math of killer Psunami waves. I also pray that god saves us from all this as all this utterly non religious...
So now you found a "Westerner and a born Christian" to add in the bashing of "Marxists and Pseuso Secularists" in India and defend the fascist right wing ideaology. Congratulations!! He says he is ashamed of what is happening in India. And what he is ashamed of? "... a Sikh prime minister where there are only 2 per cent Sikhs and a Muslim President with only 10 per cent Muslims?..." Is it a matter of shame really? I, as an Indian am proud of this very reality. He says Sonia Gandhi, a christian has become supreme power. Well she is an Indian citizen, leader of the rulling party and coalition and has not done anything so far which could be termed extra-constitutional. What is his problem then? He talks about some christian religious leader ("quack" in his words) coming to India and converting poor. Conversion is an issue highly debated. But my question is what are conditions leading to conversion in India. Why not he talks about extreme poverty, misery, starvation, ill-health, unemployemnt situation of majority of dalits and adivasis. And what he feels about our great Chandraswamis. We all know that religion provides a cover for many ill-doers and they hide themselves... to cont.
True to colour and as borne out by history, we Indians need to hang our heads in shame. Its a crying shame that a foreigner can clearly see the writing on the wall whereas we the suffering masses are happily oblivious to the actions of divisive forces. Awaken! open your eyes, don't be inactive bystanders. For, if we don't act, the very freedom we so cherish will silently slip out of our hands.
our India is not a hindu nation, not a muslim nation, nor a christian or a sikh.. its a secular nation.. we are proud be in this nation where humanity is given more priority other than any particular religion.. we dont need any of your pities.. I am not a Congress or a BJP guy but i am a neutral person.. All you westeners have no idea about our India.. all you do is devide and rule and still u are trying to do that.. who are you to criticize my nation.. when we have the family bonding which noone in the world can even think of.. we have the culture that no continent can even dream of.. here our leaders may be polluted our politics may be corrupted but its our problem..we have two types of youths here.. the minority one which stupidly goes beyond ur western culture and the majority of us, who under the vision of Mr. Abdul kalam, our president, a fellow indian(not according to ur wicked statement, a muslim president for a majority of hindu people) . to make our nation to glow brightly above all ur western nations..
Very thought provoking. Even the nuetral media has not brought this to the surface. What a shame. Secularism as in India is the worst disease that as ever afflicted truth in the history of mankind, Mahatma Gandhi ki Jai!
P.V.N. Rao was the PM when Indian was introduced to the MTV culture in a big way and some worried it woud erode our culture. P.V commented "if a culture is threatened by a few Tv channels, it is not worth holding on to ...". Indian thought definitely has the resiliece to withstand the pressures of the outside, though one wonders if it can stand the ignorance and igonomity of its own people. Francois's laments make one wonder why we as Indians don't see these things like they are. I firmly believe we will, though it might take us some time ... thousands of years of unquestioned acceptance of seeming authority (from the upper castes, muslims, brits, rogue politicians etc..) needs to be unshackled, but it surely will be.
