its a pity !!!
by Sunil on Jan 25, 2005 02:39 PM  Permalink

Rediff should keep itself distanced from these kind of communal n hatred spreading articles.
Its a pity that Ms Sonia Gandhi, Dr Manmohan Singh and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam are seen by these narrow minded people as a Christian, a Sikh and a Muslim, and not as an Indian alone.
People of all faith and religion have worked hard for the success of our beloved nation. If every one can contribute, whats wrong in every one getting a chance to be at the top position as well. Thats the difference between the nations like the US and India in the US only White Christian Males have been the Presidents and no one else, is thet fare ?
They say that the ancient culture of India belonged to the Hindus. But what they don't understand is that the modern India belongs to all, todays Generation doesn't want to know that if his/her friend is a Hindu or a Muslim. They are hurt and feeling ashamed by the incidents like the aftermath of Godhara. They just can't understand how and why hatred prevails over love.

Dont just cry, VOICE!!
by A V Koshy on Jan 25, 2005 02:35 PM  Permalink

I have read Mr. Gautier's articles off and on and even heard him over television, and know him as an unabashed Indophile even to the point of being foolishly blind to its ridiculously glaring foibles.

However, this is one article that really echoed what I experienced today when I saw the chief Minister of Karnataka with folded hands standing next to Hinn in silent acquiesence of whatever was going on. You named it-The Benny Hinn Show!! To name otherwise would be to show disrespect to the language itself.

I am an Indian and a Christian but excepting few issues, I fully endorse what has been written. Only his take on Sonia Gandhi was unsubstantiated. Alleging that "...Everybody is bending over backwards to please her, even anticipating her wishes!" is really kiddish.

I think the government should really promolgate a law that screens people like Hinn and not give them license to hold serious meeings. Comedy tours, probably!!

I am a committed Christian, and want Indians to know Jesus. But more in the manner of Mother Teresa and Graham Staines rather than Benny Hinn and scores of his ilk. (O yes, there are many!!)

Cry, my beloved India
by John Joseph on Jan 25, 2005 02:29 PM  Permalink

This is a very bad example of journalism. Media should not be used in such a way where in it provokes a reader to think negatively. WHy dont the jounalist who wrote this article write about what is going wrong in India instead of blaming any community. I know there are things which are really wrong in our country.why doesnt he write about what good things all the communities existing in india are doing.

It is ironic
by taher on Jan 25, 2005 02:21 PM  Permalink

I read F Gautier's tirade on Indian society and its impending demise with interest bordering on incredulity. Does he really think that a couple of incidents like Benny Hinn etc will pose a serious threat to Hindu society in general and Indian culture in particular? And he goes on to blame Sonia for "Christianisation" of India. What a joke Gautier is perpetrating! Take this article with a huge pinch of salt ... haha!

Sad to hear these things
by Debashis on Jan 25, 2005 02:14 PM  Permalink

I guess by the year 2020 the world will reach a stage where Hindu, Muslim, Christians will not rule.Rather Love, Business, Economy will rule. The Indian people are rising and rising.Village guys are just like the phoneix who rise from the ash and heading some of the beautiful business conglomerates of the World.Hence, I request you kindly inspire them.Don't break our hearts. We donot want more divisions or more depth to present divisions.I am a student and I feel I'll serve India better not through my religion but thru my Labour and Sweat. Please I request you again sincerely.
With Regards

Inane Logic!
by narendar lokwani on Jan 25, 2005 02:14 PM  Permalink

This is totally inane logic. The columnist is trying to say that India cannot progress under a Sikh PM or that bringing a guilty Shankaracharya under rule of law is a curse, just because he is a hindu. What a inane logic.
Setting the expectations right, im a devote hindu too. But dont feel anything is wrong when a worthy economist like Manmohan is ruling this country. India needs worthy people like him on the driver's seat to propel us to prosperity and come out of religion and cast shackles. And of course, Shankaracharya or no Shankaracharya, guilty should be punished and law to be same for all.
As far as the Benny Hinn show(!) goes, scores of Benny Hinn's have come and gone on this land and history tells us that they seldom make a difference. So why waste the ink writing about them.

Oh Mr Francois !!
by Sanjeev on Jan 25, 2005 02:09 PM  Permalink

Oh Mr. Fracois !! What a shame that your bleeding heart for India doesnt find succor in the present condition of India !! My guess is that it wouldnt anywhere, even in your own country ( Whichever that is )

Shankaracharyas arrest, Benny Hinn, Godhra et all What has that got to do with Sonia Gandhi for Gods sake ? Silent wishes of Sonia Gandhi if you were able to know, maybe you could also try your hand at being a spiritual head. Or maybe you did & failed !! Know why ? Because spiritual leaders do not spread hatred unlike you. The fact that we have a Sikh PM & Muslim President is a source of pride Francois and not shame, as you would like us to believe !!

Understand this well, that if a website of Rediffs standing carries your hate propaganda, this is a free country in more ways than you imagine.
