You have always done a wonderful job for the country starting from the day you moved to India with your journalism. It takes courage to speak out in our democratic country about atrocities against numerical majority Hindus, because you are labeled communal. Your report is nothing but truth, but I wonder how many Hindus are listening this. Do you think Hindus care about this or some even understand this? I may sound pessimistic, but would say no. Because if they do, we would not be in this position. Sounds like the time to start a revolution to save mother India.

The spirit of India is is cultural/religious diversity. Even Hindus in the north/south/east/west are all different. Then why we should care about religion?
Manmohan was made PM not because he is sikh but he was qualified. Or say there is no other person in this country better than him for that post. Father of Economic Reforms and former RBI governor. He happened to be a sikh. Is it a drawback?
Abdul Kalam has served the nation with his entire life. He is a dedicated indian. Not even married. Father of our space programs. A muslim. But what problem.
Sonia I think is better person than any other polititian in India, whatever you say. She even rejected the PM post. I dont think any other Congress or BJP leader will deny if they are given the PM chair even for a day!
So why this outburst? Our country has seen many PM and president right? 99% of them hindus..... then what problem now being a non-hindu holding the post for a short time? BJP supporters left with no issues is using this as last argument.... thats all. Even the party (BJP) dont consider this as an issue now.

The spirit of India is is cultural/religious diversity.
No doubt about that. most Indians agree on this, because with different castes, cultures, religions, and divergent idealisms amongst Indians we are the true example of unity in diversity to the world. But the pseudo-secular political parties are exploiting this for the quenching of their power hunger. those pseudo-seculars are creating the impression of uttering the word HINDU as a communalist. That is what the author pointed out.
We have been enjoying the privilege of being citizens of the world's biggest democratic government where everybody irrespective of religion have their own rights.
India is famous for it's Unity in Diversity.
We will elect and select the people who are capable of bringing the nation pride whomsoever he may be whatever may be his community. That's what indians are.
We are very proud of our president who is a great source of inspiration for the younger generation.
You did mentioned about the richest and greatest history of india. From the olden days itself India has been ruled by all kinds of emperors from all communities. We never bothered about the religion of the ruler and it is been continuing in the present scenario also.
Ofcourse, most of the Indians are belonging to Hindu community. But we never think as we are seperate from other communities, being the major proportion of the population, rather think as we are all INDIANS.
We accept people of any kind without thinking of his religion.
You are trying to over emphasising on some present issues and also relating the ancient history to the present situations.
This article does not in any way highlight the Something terrible is happening here scenario, as the writer claims, but instead demonstrates clearly the writer's lack of understanding of India and its people and his annoying penchant to use religion as a tool to vent his anger. Show me a country that is blessed with such a myriad mix of people, who despite their religious, cultural or language differences, co-exist peacefully to a great extent. As a Christian living abroad, my only suggestion to the writer is to stay out of issues that he clearly does not fathom. It does not matter an iota if someone is Christian, Hindu, Muslim or Sikh. Being an Indian matters more than belonging to a particular religion. Nothing terrible is happening in India, dear writer! Well, at least not since I had a look at the BBCs news website 5 minutes ago!
I strongly condemn this article, i'm worried why my favourite portal rediff.com is publishing this article. Muslim president, sikh prime minister, christian pm elect, these facts shows our unity, which is our strength and a mandatory requirement. Whatever happening related to Benni's show may have political implications, but dont i wish rediff need not to provocate the religionism in this way. Jai Hind.
I am an Indian. Not a muslim, not a hindu, not a christian. A nation can exist and develop as a society when it stands as a whole nation. No country had ever existed as devided on the terms of caste, creed, or religion. History is there to analyse it and identify the mistakes and try to see that they nver occur again. Not to dig it and settle the centuries old accounts on the basis of religion. What had happened in the past in the times of empires can not be related directly to present society. You are talking about the past of India. We know our rich history and its culture. We know how to defend our society and culture. You commented about the gandhian aspect of Mr Atal Bihari Vajpaye. It is that aspect which kept him as the top leader of the day even if he is not in power.(See India Today 24 Jan 2005).Our freedom fighting and after independence the social thinking are mainly influenced by Gandhiji. It is the gandhian thinking which gone into the shaping of modren India. We repect Gandhiji,Gandhian thinking, and any person who exhibits that thinking, whether it is Mr Vajpaye or you. If you have any material evidence that can prove any leader corrupt or Kanchee seer, you can give.
Excellent article - rediff must be congratulated for this. No other "Elite Print" media in India would publish such an article - as said in the article, everyone is bending over backward to impress upon Soniaji. Cant believe that a well educated and honest politician like Dr. Singh has not come out to openly discuss issues like arrest of Sankaracharya, tainted ministers in cabinet. Instead of crying, Indians should feel ashmed of what is going on!!
