Journalists!

Lesson to all journalists, check your facts before publishing any story. I thought that was common sense? This wouldn't have happened.

This whole episode makes me sick. Not because the kid or who ever involved has pulled a fast one (hoax), what i fail to understand is how is that the media and politicians fell for it. I even got to hear that the elected members from UP assembly agreed to give their months basic salary as a token of recognition.
(that can be easily done by most as they have various ways of making dirty money). Suggest that the amount is used for the development of the needy who have elected them in the first place. Even got to read that the President met him. Does that mean even his team of people do not check on the creditials of such news ??? Looks like, as usual, all have jumped the Gun. Wish that such enthusiasm is shown in important matters, which due to various delays, are hampering the development of our country.

Saurab Hoax
by Dorai on Feb 26, 2005 10:09 AM  Permalink

I have been reading theses articles both in print and electronic media.
I am sorry to say that the whole blame goes to media people. The very faith on the news media is at stake if they publish such articles without varifying the facts, that to when you are comparing a Person like Dr.Abdul Kalam (Please remember he is not only a great scientist but also President of India).
Giving too much of importance to such small news naturally effects the image of the news media.
Everyone knows news media can make an ordinary person a celeberity and tear apart a celeberity into rags.
Time to close news on Saurab and start giving the world the news which are true and useful.
