explain mr. bid wai
by prenul on Feb 25, 2005 05:03 PM  Permalink

"The Left is articulating demands which closely correspond to what ordinary people want and aspire to."

i think because of this only the Left have all the presence in West Bengal and Kerala only. people of these states only are the ordinary people other state people are abnormal , i suppose for them not supporting Left crap. Come on Bid Wai get a grasp of your utterances . they truly sound hollow. Even the leftist are not following their own ideology in such an ardous manner (ex. Buddhadev B. of WB) why are you hackeneyed to this outdated concept.

success ??
by mahes bhat on Feb 25, 2005 03:37 PM  Permalink

Could Praful Bidwai name a country/state which has successfully implemented the "Left" strategy ???

Look at eastern europe, russia, north korea, cuba - now look at singapore, taiwan, south korea etc

Its easy for someone like Praful who probably is well off to talk theory - what have the Left acheived in West Bengal in the last 30 years - ok we don't hear of framers commiting sucide but is that the benchmark for progress .....

The Left strategy oe equality seems to be instead of making the poor rich , make the rich poor.

Congress at crossroads.
by Hiren on Feb 25, 2005 02:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Prafull is real leftist. So he will support government monopolies in AIR, OIL coal etc. but will not like a private competition for he fears he will loose out on their pet topic.

It was my mistake to have read his column. I had decided not to read Prafull Bidwai earlier.

Somebody should explain this man that the Verdict 2004 was definitely against NDA but it was not for UPA or for that matter the current composition of UPA where criminals are ministers. They politicise everything in the world. Today I read in TOI they are opposing construction of Roads by private parties why because they do not want private funds in Roads.

Anyways he had his right to express his wishes. I again say that Prafull is not worth reading also. I wasted my precious time. What a weaste.

Hiren Bafna, Mumbai

Bidwai on congress
by R.Srinivasan on Feb 25, 2005 02:30 PM  Permalink

One of the better analysis I have read recently. It is obvious that the Congress thinks it can go its own way because it thinks its allies have no way to go!It relies on the time tested view that parties in alliance cannot go to the extent of pulling the plug because of the fear of BJP coming to power. The question is who will blink first in this impasse!

Cynical view of things a way of life for 'political analysts'!
by Vijaya Moorthy on Feb 25, 2005 02:02 PM  Permalink

It has happened in the past, it is happening now and will continue! Prediction of doomsday for the government is a spicy topic to write about specially, if the party is the Congress and if the author is referring to the Congress President. However, when a gentleman called Mr Narasimha Rao ran a government sans majority for a full term, there is no question that Manmohanji's government cannot do the same when the UPA chairperson, Mrs Gandhi - an excellent manager is alongside!

Illussions of leftist grandeur and stupidity
by Anil on Feb 25, 2005 01:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi,

It seems the left is full of people who are bent on ruining this country and Praful bidwai and other so called commnetors belong to this category.save this country by not given them space to propage thier idiosyncracies . Our country will be better of without such fellows. please stop talking of so called secualarism and talk about how people are going to get a better deal.Stop promoting China by scaring FDI . The left wants India to be left far behind. Congress shoul leave left and go ahead with their reformist agenda.

praful bidwai's coloumn
by indrajeet maitra on Feb 25, 2005 01:40 PM  Permalink

it really saddens me that such an eloquent coloumnist can have such negative views. Surely by any yardstick, is supporting Yadav more important than pursuing market reforms/ stock market welfare. Well meaning friends in the Left forget that administration and welfare need lots of money and the same is generated ONLY by the 'rich industrialists' who are enterprising, opportunistic and have the ability to take risks. They work while our Leftist friends 'talk'

Befare of well meaning friends of 'Aam Admi' like Mr. Bidwai
