I agree that Congress is unlearning its dominant attitude. But it is slow. In the interest of preventing the risk of India slipping into the communal politics again, the party should shed some selfish eliments and give chance to progressive youngsters. But the leadeship is very much handicaped and weak. Comments about the left seem to only emotional reactions.
Congress is hell bent to prove its culture that it needs no one to defeat it but itself has the art of doing so. God forbid if Sonia Gandhi could assert herself and mend the ways otherwise wrinting has started figuring on the wall.
Please publish all the messages even if they are not of your point of view..I hope you guys understand what I am saying..You guys systematicallly block those messages which doesnt carry the point of view of rediff. Its shameful that media behave like this..
Mr. Bidwai should have joined the national advisory board and submitted this write-up to the committee, not in rediff website. Why these talents are being wasted in internet? Here we have the greatest saviour of UPA, aam admi and secularist minorities.
Congress no doubt is an arrogant party. Congresswallahs are used to power for so long that they find it below their dignity to share it with somebody else. Congerss and coalition politics will never meet.PB is right to that extent. The rest of his article is typical Left-inspired thoughts where except you others are at fault. Can I expect PB to come out with an article on Why Left is at crossroads globally -I am being sympathetic towards Left. Actually left and its brand of ideology died long time back.
I was RTFLMAO after reading his "E"nlightenment argument after having assigned himself the ultimate in "Secularist" values(even if it mattered in the first place). I wonder how Darwin's theory missed eliminating such hollow pontificators such as these.....hahaha
I am not sure what Praful Bidwai is trying to tell. He is telling that Left is progressive and represent modern values and times. Its exactly the opposite. If left were to represent all that Praful claims why is that there are no industries in West Bengal and Kerala. Why is that these communists are more interested in organising strikes and hartals and make India a laughing stock in front of the world. Yes, NDA went to town on the success it created in Urban India which alienated it from rural India. But to tell NDA's policies were foolish and telling Chidambaram to follow left's policies is equivalent of telling India to commit "Hara-Kiri". Why can't he look at what's happening in China which is so-called biggest communist country in the world....and which is becoming the biggest capitalist...Governament sponsered capitalism...and attracting highest FDI in the world...what does Indian communists have to say about that?
Where does Rediff find this leftist? He never wrote an article that sounds optimistic. He is always negative, pessimistic and anti-India. Does he think leftist economy will bring poor people out of the poverty line? Haven't we practised socialism for many decades and saw millions in poverty?
It is amusing to see how Bidwai treats a competitive electoral politics issue as a naïve Left partisan issue. In an ideal world political parties may be guided by pure ideologies and then Congress would align with other parties purely on the basis of secular political agenda. But Bidwai is forgetting that in a competitive market that is what modern Democracies are every political party is interested in enhancing ones brand, vote base and political advantage. Electoral alliances are purely driven by these political calculations and not by ideological purity. Congress is trying to drive hard its advantage, at times even at the cost of its own allies. Instead of fiddling as a junior partner with Lalu, it is taking the risk of aligning with Paswan. Anyways Congress is unlikely to get anything more even if it had sided with Lalu. So why not try counter balance Lalu within UPA? In Jharkhand it feels it has a shot with JMM so why share spoils with Lalu? Where did Pawar go in the end? Pawar and NCP do not have much future. Congress is driving hard bargain. If BJP contracts; it is all between Left and Congress. Congress is trying to stop Left occupying the space vacated by BJP.
