I am glad that Siwan District Magistrate C K Anil took the decision to keep Shahbuddin in custody till end of elections, despite heavy odds. As an Indian, I feeel very proud of his decision / action. Possibilty of elections taking place in an environment where the voters are not unduly influenced (by political bigvigs, mafia lords, criminally oriented guys, etc.) is an essential requirement. Country has suffered - Bihar specially suffered much more acutely, because wrong people remain loose during election process. Poor voters, even educated well to do voters, remain terrified. As a consequence, worthless political lords have - over a long period - retained control of the state. This is first time that many known wrong people have been kept in judicial custody in Bihar. This is being watched by people in Bihar; in fact, all over India and by Indians- specifically Biharis, all over world. We would see its impact on election results- despite the fact that many other wrong people of similar type(but of relatively lesser influence)have remained loose all over the state.
