Nothing religious about Valentines Day
by Lional on Feb 08, 2006 09:35 AM  Permalink

i would just like to make it known to the public that though St. Valentine is a Christian Saint, there is nothing religious about the day. Valentines day is not a part of any Christian culture. it is just something that is followed in the west by taking the name of St. Valentine. i doubt the couples (mostly teenagers) who celebrate valentines day in public places and make a fool of themselves even know that valentine is a saint. Kissing in public does not have to do anything with the day.

Valentine Day
by Harish Shetty on Feb 14, 2005 01:48 PM  Permalink

This is really crazy that people are against the V Day,it is like people who are against it are out to hurt those people who enjoy this day.

This is almost like dadagiri or the another name you can give is open terrorism to the Indian people.

The people who are against it their caste youngters are the one who celebrate the day a lot.
It is really very dissapointing for the democratic country ot have such type of people in their country who are against LOVE. The whole world knows that Indians Love & let others love, it is a country where love lives.
WE SHOULD REALLY SHOOT SUCH PEOPLE ON THE SPOT FOR ACTING AS GUNDAAS
I would really want a feed back on this.

Regards

Harish Shetty

Does Public Deserve Harmony? You Must Be Crazy!!!
by Abhishek Pandey on Feb 14, 2005 11:47 AM  Permalink

ABVP's state president Harishankar seems to believe that "Public is too petty a thing to be subjected to something harmonious. That bunch of idiot citizens, who unfailingly elect his bosses to acme of power, should be subject only to foolish outrage, riots, naked communalism, naxalism etc. It does not deserve to see anything peaceful, leave alone having that."

He must be right or how can super-heroes (drugged or not) like him continue to be in the business of messing up with daily lives of every one every single time.
And he is also smart enough to define "Vulgarity" to his own pervert (sorry, I meant holy) ends.

I sincerely hope Mr. Harishankar is not leaving any stone unturned (or rather any turn unstoned) to ensure that!
He must come out with some great tricks (smart politics!) to make the entire world witness to some real brutal blood-shed yet again.

Happy Valium-10 day???

Goondaism at its peak - Valentine's day celebration
by appy on Feb 14, 2005 03:03 AM  Permalink

The attitude of the ABVP, SS and BJP is pathetic. The young couples are adults in their own right, the attitude and goondaism of these parties is a mockery of our democracy and freedom of expression.
And its really sad that as ppl are becoming open about a lot of issues, these narrow-minded individuals are trying to stifle the nation's youth.
If these activists are against such celebrations, no one is forcing them to celebrate or participate in the festivities. But that doesnot give them the right to decide what other young people should/should not do.
I definitely don't buy the theory of moral degradation of our society and going against our culture because of these celebrations. Society always adapts its cultures/traditions to suit the age in which it lives. What was acceptable a century ago, need not necessarily be acceptable or right in today's age, and vice versa, what was shocking or wrong in a diff era could be totally okay now, it could be what ppl choose to do in their life.

To conclude,I wouldn't give any outsider the right to dictate terms to me.I know I wouldn't do anything that would go against the values that my parents instilled in me.Thats all that matters finally!

valentines day
by palinneed on Feb 14, 2005 12:36 AM  Permalink

yes i too agree the kissing is wrong in public places... but why to make it just a day affair to punish them.. make it daily... y just on valentine day... and bring down every obscene posters of movies and ads. around and every paintings and sculpture....thats found around our country.. which we claim it proudly to be a part of our culture....

is just loving wrong.... or obscene act is wrong..
anyway i love my ancient culture... because it allowed me polygamy, shrine prostitution, concubinesm etc... why sudden aprisal on valentine day...

valentine day could be a part of western culture...

any way all this were our part.... once upon a time...
what i say i dont want valentine fest around me... that's all....
why should i drag the culture in midst of it.... because as i mentioned before my ancient culture from the vedic period, to all empires .... allowed me to have polygamy, pre and post maratial affairs... so i dont find it any wrong...
