It is high time.
by chanakya on Feb 12, 2005 12:50 PM  Permalink

It is a very high time Bharat Varsh moves in and takes over the reins before yet another POK like territory comes into existence.

Bharat Varsh has every right to do this and do it at the King's request which can always be solicited or obtained - obtained with military force, if necessary.

If Bharat Varsh continues to remain a silent spectator to the ongoings in Nepal there would be a plentiful of regrets and irretrievable situation in the near future.

We failed miserably in Tibet.

Bharat Varsh has enough of Cubas around her. We cannot afford any more.

Nepal: Maoists, not king, rule
by Nelson Lewis on Feb 11, 2005 10:53 PM  Permalink

King Gyanendra has recently dismissed the Nepalese Government and assumed absolute powers. With this, the King has shown that he is power hungry and his actions will put the future of Monarchy in peril. But in this hour of Nepal's need this is a secondary issue. Both Nepal and India should tackle the major and serious problems posed by Maoists. India should not be a bystander, but keep the larger picture in mind by assisting Nepal for its people's sake (and not the King) by actively supporting the Nepalese Army in engaging and liquidating the Maoists who are a threat not only to Nepal but also to India. If the Maoists in Nepal get the upper hand, then the Maoists and Naxalites in India will get a shot in the arm and create much more problems for Indian Central and State Governments. India should talk to Nepal on an emergency basis and come to an understanding in assisting the Nepalese Government, people and their Armed Forces in whatever manner they can. If required, India Army and Air Force could play a leading role by engaging the Maoists wherever they are with the active support and participation by Nepalese only in ground actions, as I wonder if Nepal has an Air Force.
