Giving reservations or benefits on the basis of religion is a wrong idea.If some one deserves give it to him, because he is a citizen of India and not because he is Hindu or Muslim and Bhudhist or Christan or follower of any ideology..In our present system many of the benefits are not reaching the poor or reserved. So better stop these kind of appeasing for cheap votes...Improve educational and health care facilities...Or by giving reservations we are keeping them as slaves...That is not the spirit of India.
Ok let us also give reservation to Muslims then. So that if I do not get admission to a college or do not get a job, I can convert to Muslim and do so. Nice way to promote conversions.
If Dalits are getting reservations and consessions in education why they can't enhance their ability? Always remember, Those will go ahead who has intellectual capacities. No reservations nothing can save Dalits and their so called 1000 yrs downtrodden status, They have to compete with open categoriy people... We are proud to have intellectual advantage.. We don't need any Ambedkar or phule or Shahu.. they won't give us jobs in this millenium..only we can do that...
Ideally speaking, yes, Dalit Christians need not be given reservation, as Chrisitanity professes to be an egalitarian religion, whereas Indian origin religions like Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism, allegedly support casteism.
But the ground realities do not support this perception. As a person who is well familiar with members of the Christian communities of various denominations, I have seen that casteism is very much prevalent and alive in the followers of Christianity, especially in socialising, matrimony and employment in organisations owned by Christians.
