If we need our country to grow and replace the USA as a super power in all senses of the word, there can be no substitution to quality and reservations do affect quality. Merit should be the sole criteria everywhere. In case an individual does not have an aptitude fit for the profile but is able to scrape through on basis of quota regimes he/she would not be able to do justice to the profile.
I am of the opinion that a Hindu once he converts to Christanity has no right to be called a Dalit as there is no castism in Christanity. The political parties and the Law should be very clear.I cannot remain a Brahmin once I convert to Christanity. So where is the point in giving the converts the same facilities of Dalits? The Dalits in Sikism and Buddhism are nothing but off shoots of Hinduism, hence they have the right for reservation(Which I feel should be reconsidered too).

Do the Sikkism or Budhism has caste system? If not why Dalit Christians are discreminated.
Religion shouldn't matter when it comes to reservation All Dalits from a poor background should be treatedequally.I don't believe in reservation. Isn't it high time all reservation was stopped and merit played a bigger role with some special consideration to the poor but bright youngsters from all communities. Less emphasis on cast an we will become a better people.
well, personally i think the reservation has been misused. Reservation should be based on economic condition rather than caste. But if it is available to any dalit hindus, why not to dalit christian or any other faith. Afterall the reason for allowing reservation is that the dalits suffered a lot earlier and so they are economically and socally backward. Converting to christianity is changing their faith. They will reamin same economically and socially
