Re:Nepal, the next tibet
by adv_ant on Feb 16, 2005 02:49 AM  Permalink

The author's implication that Dr.Manmohan Singh, (PM of the world's largest democracy) should be appreciating and applauding the act of the king of Nepal is either laughable or shows the hypocritic values of the fundamentalists in this country. What else can we expect from a group that would be willing to support Hitler in exchange for freedom.

Absolute humbug. China is too busy in growing far faster than India and has no interest in agression and annexation. Why this Rajeev has reappeared?

Rajeev Srinivasan is also a racist .... he sounds to be from some other south indian state other than kerala and seems to be too happy venting his unnecessary anger on the keralaites .. this is pure racism ... not only that what have islamist to do in nepal ... and why does he blame the islamists when actually the maoists in nepal and in india are hindus themselves ... there is nothing called as maoism in pakistan or bangladesh .. they have another problem and that is religious fundamentalism ...
rediff should seriously think of removing all columns made by rajeev ... i dont know where does he think from and why he does not start making films for bollywood...

Professional Journalism
by ashish on Feb 14, 2005 09:50 AM  Permalink

Professional journalism requires some sense of revealing the truth or unbiased reporting. This guy is just some guy with lots of money earned in US and now he is willing to spend time revealing his highly divisive and untrue understanding of the world to rest of us....
just like a true Sanghi.

Marxist fighting for Freedom
by ashish on Feb 14, 2005 04:35 AM  Permalink

Mr Sinivasan,
According to you Its the Marxist china ploy to capture hindu Nepal (you never forget to bring the religious angle do u?), and that King Gyanendra is chumywith China (because Paras visited Singapore twice ..ha ..ha..ridiculous) and then why are "hindu " Maoist rebel in Nepal against the King..
And please stop equating Marxist with Naxalites..

And sir, please don't mix India's Tibet policy with India's policy on Nepal... Today we are in a totally different world with different need with regards to foreign policy..
The hindu BJP govt. did not show any different tune in the foriegn policy and did much worse than Congress govt has done so far...

Wake UP!!
by ashish on Feb 14, 2005 04:10 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mr. Srinivasan,
I was during the BJP's regime that king Gyanendra became powefull. And you say that he is with Chinese/Marxixts/Naxalites (i am amazed by the your eqaution of Marxist beating: Chinese=Marxinsm=Naxalites=Bad Guys). And according to your logic since Marxist are anti Hindus, king Gyanendra is also anti Hindu and so BJP which did nothing to stop King Gyanendra growing power is anti Hindu as well!!

exaggeration
by rahul on Feb 13, 2005 05:29 PM  Permalink

I thought that the Naxals were basically landless labourers fighting for equality. If thats the case they can be taken back into the fold at the expense of those who exploit them. If the people have a stake in the system they are not likely to rebel against it. As far as China is concerned, they will get nothing out of Nepal: all they want would be to stop the poor Tibetans from threatening in their puny way the communist empire. India is right in being alarmed in Nepal: an unstable and power-hungry monarch in a poor nation racked with turmoil is aweful for anyone. However, a Chinese takeover would make no sense for the Chinese who would get nothing from it. After all they dont give us as much importance as we think they do. India is no threat to China and they know it. I think the author exxagerates too much. India has taken a principled stand for a while as befits a democracy and we would deal with the king in our own time as pragmatism dictates. Its all about diplomacy. The attack on the Malyalis and the Nehru-Gandhi's is just foolish and in bad taste. India does not invest in proper think tanks and strategic thinking so why should anyone be blamed? NDA et al were hardly better.
