What is the Kanchi Mutt trying to prove by claiming that it is 2500 years old? When Adi Shankara himself lived only 1200 years ago, how can a Mutt that identifies with him claim to be older? And what is this business about a roster filled with the names of Mutt heads beginning from Adi Shankara?
Like everything else surrounding the Kanchi Mutt, this also seems suspect. When are Indians going to learn that quality and not quantity is what counts?
